Job description

Position Summary: 

Responsible for coordinating North American Customs and Logistics efforts, ensuring that local manufacturing locations meet their regulatory and compliance obligations, as well as maintaining global and regional consistency.  The successful incumbent is the customs expert of the ARaymond Manufacturing Center, NA, Inc. operating entities and responsible for customs compliance. 

Represent the region with regards to their Group and Global Customs and Logistics colleagues.  Assist the local plant teams in the area of Customs and Logistics, through reporting of data / KPI's and recommending improvements. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Champion North American efforts regarding HS code standardization and compliance for products produced, and purchased, liaising with the global ARaymond team.   

  • Customs expert of the ARaymond entities, responsible for customs NA organizational compliance. 

  • Provide leadership and support NA plant efforts towards meeting CTPAT requirements, coordinate customer replies and assessments. 

  • Monitor and verify compliance with the Global Trade Services (GTS) system to ensure North American compliance. 

  • Manages GTS; HS codes, preferential origin, export control, SPL and embargo. 

  • Provide for North American alignment with Global Logistics and Customs Initiatives, including packaging harmonization, Web Portal Solution and KPI's 

  • Primary NA region intermediary working with customs representatives, Raygroup, legal and finance departments, consulting firms, and official authorities. 

  • Establish relationships and maintain open communication with group companies via in-person, e-mail, EDI, and Teams 

  • Represent North America and participate in Group Customs and Logistics workshops.  

  • Assist customer service teams with shipping dates, transit times, transportation and customs issues on traded product imported from A Raymond locations around the globe 

  • Defines, writes and participates in developing documentation for processes, procedures, SOPs, and reporting indicators (activities & performance of customs regulations). 

  • Manage relationship with customs brokers for all North America international shipments. 

  • Manage and propose reduction to number of customs brokers for better management, contractual roles & responsibilities of the parties under signed service contracts. 

  • Maintain customs bonds for all legal entities in North America 

  • Review and recommend cost effective solutions for the international movement of special project items such as machinery and tooling. 

  • Provide statistical and analytical information on tracking of shipments. 

  • Understands the IMMEX program for U.S. based companies doing business in Mexico. 

  • Experience managing the flow of goods across the U.S. - Mexico border. 

  • Support cost containment activities and reporting on all shipments to insure proper cost assignment. 

  • Supports the Finance department with any questions regarding payment of duties and taxes. 

  • Identify logistical areas requiring process improvements, capturing cost savings and recommending appropriate solutions.  

  • Provide leadership and training to other employees and stakeholders across the NA facilities. 

  • Adhere to A. Raymond's Core Values, Policies and Procedures 

  • Complete USMCA compliance documents as required.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Customs, Logistics, Transportation or related field or 10 years equivalent work experience  

  • Expertise in the field of customs regulations and international logistics. 

  • 7 years of customs logistics experience with domestic and international freight carriers 

  • Experience with OEM/EDI customer website
