The Converged Packet Optical R&D hardware team is seeking a hard-working and innovative PCB layout designer to develop high-speed, high complexity, multilayer circuit packs for communication products. The PCB Layout Designer will use Cadence Allegro layout toolset to extract the netlist from schematic capture and perform printed circuit board artwork design and deliver a complete design package for production.

How you will make an impact:

  • Deliver complete PCB documentation packages that meet quality system requirements.

  • Perform component placement to satisfy electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints.

  • Develop routing strategies and execute PCB routing to meet electrical specifications.

  • Participate in design reviews and resolve design issues with hardware, mechanical, component, operations, test, product integrity, and thermal teams.

  • Complete layout verification using Valor to ensure compliance with Design for Manufacturability requirements.

The must haves:

  • Education: Electrical/Electronic Technology Diploma program OR Associate CAD Diploma.

  • Experience: 5+ years of PCB layout CAD/CAM experience.

  • Utilization of Cadence Allegro and Valor tools.

  • Application of the PCB design process and required deliverables.

  • Application of high-speed routing methodologies, single-ended and differential controlled impedance design, power and ground planes, terminations, via technologies, board materials and stack-ups, safety isolation requirements, EMC/EMI considerations, manufacturability constraints, and manufacturing test requirements.

  • Application of PCB technologies and mixed analog and high-speed digital circuit design.

  • Knowledge of Constraint Manager.

  • Application of manual routing,controlled auto-routing, and forward/backward schematic annotation.

  • Ability to adapt to change and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to organize work effectively.

  • Values customer relationships and works to exceed customer expectations.

  • Knowledge of the PCB manufacturing and assembly process

  • Application of the PCB design process, manufacturability considerations, and assembly processes.

Pay Range:The annual compensation range is $83,800 - $133,800 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
