Job Summary

The Sr/Principal Customer Program Manager - Energy Efficiency Marketing is responsible for building awareness of and inspiring customer participation in our company’s energy efficiency programs for Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas. The ideal candidate has experience developing and executing engagement campaigns, managing internal teams and external contractors, and working with leadership teams to implement strategic initiatives.  In the role, the candidate will leverage their experience in long-term strategic planning, communications, and be adept at managing day-to-day marketing activities on-time and on-budget. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Leads efforts to establish brand positioning and develops strategic marketing plans to achieve energy efficiency portfolio participation, savings, and spend goals
  • Directs the development and implementation of customer focused communication initiatives to strategically support utility portfolio and program marketing plans
  • Manages budget, requests for proposal and contracting related to all portfolio and program energy efficiency marketing activities
  • Supervises internal marketing staff and external marketing and outreach contractors/subcontractors to ensure effective execution of the energy efficiency marketing strategies in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Presents on utility energy efficiency marketing initiatives to external and internal engagements
  • Cultivates and manages external partnerships beneficial to driving energy efficiency marketing strategies key sponsorship organizations and related industry organizations
  • Partners with internal teams including Corporate Communications and Governmental Affairs as well as external utility marketing peers to coordinate marketing plans and deliver related initiatives
  • Oversees preparation of professional presentations and relevant materials
  • Evaluates effectiveness and impact of current marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis to inform and guide future activities
  • Presents ideas and final deliverables to internal and external teams, and communicate with senior leaders about marketing programs, strategies, and budgets

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree with one of the preferred majors:  Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Media, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • Senior Customer Program Manager requires 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, media relations, community relations or related field
  • Principal Customer Program Manager requires 7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, media relations, community relations or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in marketing utility energy efficiency programs and initiatives, including managing budgets and staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the voice of a brand and bring success stories to life
  • Proven relationship-building skills at all levels of the organization
  • Proven success in developing marketing plans and campaigns
  • Strong project management, analysis, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, pay attention to detail and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient in standard office software (MS PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Familiarity with marketing tools and analytics for graphic design, email marketing, social media, etc.

Pay Range Minimum:  $90,507.56 

Pay Range Maximum:  $169,135.98 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
