Job description

Job Description
  • Location:ย Savannah, Georgia
  • Work arrangement:ย 100% on-site
  • Employment type:ย Full-time

Position Overview:
We are conducting a highly confidential search for an experienced procurement and supply chain professional to support the purchasing, materials planning, inventory, transportation, and receiving activities of a growing product-based organization in Savannah, Georgia.
This position will serve as a key operational link among suppliers, warehouses, transportation providers, internal operations, and finance. The selected professional will be expected to maintain reliable material availability, improve purchasing discipline, control logistics-related costs, and ensure accurate documentation and traceability through SAP.
This is not a purely transactional or administrative purchasing role. The position requires someone who can manage the complete procurement cycle, identify operational risks, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's supply processes.
The organization is currently strengthening its U.S. operations and implementing changes intended to improve accountability, predictability, cost control, and operational performance. The successful candidate must therefore be comfortable joining a demanding, evolving environment and working closely with direct, results-oriented leadership.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, create, release, and follow up on purchase orders in SAP, ensuring alignment with inventory requirements, budgets, consumption patterns, supplier lead times, and operational priorities.
  • Monitor material availability and inventory levels, identifying potential shortages, excess stock, slow-moving items, and replenishment needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, operations teams, transportation providers, and finance to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and services.
  • Maintain full visibility and traceability across the procurement process, from internal requirements and supplier confirmation through transportation, warehouse receipt, invoice validation, and issue resolution.
  • Review goods receipts, invoice discrepancies, and GR/IR activity in coordination with Finance.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment conditions, service levels, freight terms, and other commercial conditions with suppliers and carriers.
  • Analyze purchasing, freight, transportation, and auxiliary material costs and recommend opportunities for savings and operational improvement.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, carriers, 3PL providers, and other logistics partners.
  • Track supplier performance, service issues, quality incidents, delayed deliveries, and recurring operational problems.
  • Document procurement and logistics incidents and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support forecasting, inventory planning, purchasing schedules, and the development of more predictable replenishment processes.
  • Maintain complete and accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, delivery information, and supporting materials within SAP and related systems.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of procurement procedures, reporting, controls, and operating standards.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with management regarding shortages, delays, cost deviations, supplier risks, and other operational concerns.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Approximatelyย 3 to 6 yearsย of experience.
  • Strong practical experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Customer Operations, Dispatch, Logistics, Supply Chain, Inventory, or Materials Coordination.
  • Hands-on SAP MM experience. Certification isย notย required.
  • Experience coordinating suppliers, warehouses, transportation providers, inventory, purchasing, and customer deliveries.
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats rather than specializing in only one function.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
  • Service-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and easy to work with.
  • Comfortable working with a direct and demanding leadership style.
  • Preference for candidates already located in Savannah or nearby markets, while remaining open to exceptional relocation candidates.
