Job description

Job Details:
To effectively support NE Prepared Foods Deli customers, preferred candidates will be located in the Northeastern US.
The Customer Development Manager is responsible for leading, building, selling, communicating, and implementing collaborative business solutions that drive both Tyson and our customers to the desired business results for Tyson's prepared foods portfolio to support our deli customers.
The CDM owns the sales partnership with the merchant, works closely with cross functional teams and must demonstrate the necessary interpersonal and planning skills to partner with them (i.e. Production Planning, Prepared Business Unit, Demand Planning, Retail Teams, and Category Insights) in an effort to align objectives, needs and activities that will grow the business. This position works closely with the Director of Sales (DOS) and customer service associates to help advance Tyson's position as a trusted supplier.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Own sales partnership with customers for assigned prepared foods categories
  • Achieve sales volume and financial spending objectives
  • Achieve customer profit objectives
  • Develop and lead joint growth planning across all assigned categories
  • Align and execute multiple business strategies
  • Understanding of sales deliverables and correlation(s) to business
  • Implementing and executing store/DC replenishment strategies
  • Manage broker performance by monitoring results, providing direction, and ensuring execution against sales goals and business priorities.
  • Consistently deliver fact-based insights, guidance, and leadership direction to merchants and within Tyson Foods.
  • Leverage resources including syndicated data, proprietary customer data, industry publications, and internal resources to deliver line review presentation(s) and/or innovation meetings, in which opportunities to accelerate sales growth and share gains are identified. Advise on item expansion / contraction, new items, assortment gaps, competitive gaps, retail price comparison to drive sales growth.

Essential Duties:
  • Achieve sales mix and volume goals, while understanding the impact to the Customer's metrics (dollars, units, pounds, markdowns, and margin)
  • Product portfolio management
  • Complete proper contracts and documentation for the northeast retailers and distributors
  • Planning, forecasting, and attaining high volume annual growth quotas
  • Executing promotional and product mix strategies and tactics to deliver customer profitability goals
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to create winning business propositions that benefit Tyson and the customer
  • Analyze syndicated data and/or Retail Link to drive meaningful action and results
  • Track and report competitive activities; conduct price and volume contract negotiations
  • Deduction, resolution, and reduction
  • Work efficiently with trade software and CRM software.
  • Craft compelling narratives into sales presentations for assigned customers by effectively leveraging syndicated data insights
  • Build strong internal cross-functional relationships that can be leveraged to attain additional resources to further Tyson initiatives at assigned customers.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience: 5 plus years sales experience
Knowledge of Prepared Foods and Deli strongly preferred
Computer Skills: Requires basic computer skills
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Special Skills: Project management and/or strategic planning experience is required
Travel: 10-15% trips per year
