Job description

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Daytime Custodian to join our team in Middletown, CT. This position focuses heavily on specialized floor maintenance and general upkeep to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Schedule & Classification

  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday (30 hours/week)

  • Job Type: Part-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialized Floor Care: Perform routine and deep floor maintenance, including stripping, waxing, and burnishing hard surfaces to maintain a high-gloss finish.

  • Carpet Maintenance: Operate heavy-duty carpet cleaning and extraction equipment for routine and deep-cleaning cycles.

  • Routine Custodial Duties: Dusting, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash receptacles, and sanitizing common areas during daytime hours.

  • Equipment & Supply Management: Safely operate, clean, and maintain custodial equipment (burnishers, buffers, extractors). Mix and handle cleaning chemicals strictly according to safety data sheets (SDS).

  • Safety & Compliance: Identify and report any maintenance safety hazards or repair needs to management immediately.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Proven experience in commercial custodial work, with specific, hands-on expertise in floor stripping, waxing, and high-speed burnishing.

  • Equipment Knowledge: Competency operating commercial floor buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs consistently throughout a 6-hour shift.

  • Reliability: Strong time-management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal daytime supervision.
