Basic Qualifications


Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in automotive technical field, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification, or equivalent years of related field experience preferred.


Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; effective communication and interpersonal skills; self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while delivering professional service to customers; ability to assess a situation and make sound repair decisions while effectively communicating pertinent information to the customer; possesses advanced multi-tasking ability, troubleshooting equipment, and repair skills; ability to manage urgent deadlines in a challenging environment; strong mechanical repair skills including diesel and automotive systems; knowledge in electrical, hydraulic systems, compressors, and crane repairs; demonstrated understanding of hydraulic and electric theory; ability to use service manuals to troubleshoot; ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret results; proficient use of hand and power tools; proficient PC skills (including Internet); demonstrated ability to read, follow, and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics; and visual and auditory skills.


Working Conditions: Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, crawl, kneel, walk, and work for long periods; regular twisting, pulling, pushing forces associated with use of tools; lift/carry up to 75 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally; exposure to outdoor weather conditions; operate heavy machinery, power tools, or equipment; work at elevated heights or confined spaces; drive a motor vehicle or commercial vehicle requiring a valid driver’s license; and occasional overtime/on-call service as needed.


Experience: Minimum two (2) years’ experience repairing and maintaining heavy trucks (including diesel engines and transmissions/components) required; five (5) years’ experience in auto repair, truck body, oil and gas, and electrical/hydraulic experience preferred.


General Responsibilities

The Field Service Mechanic is responsible to diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks, equipment, related machinery and Curry Supply products at customer job sites and field locations in accordance with company policy, legal requirements, and safety standards. The Mechanic performs warranty and mechanical repairs; writes up orders for parts to complete repairs and billing; evaluates parts for reusability and cause of failure; visits customer work sites to perform on-site repairs; and tests new units as needed.


This position is classified as safety sensitive. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including the company’s drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements. Individuals in this role are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, consistent with applicable law and company policy. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Essential Duties


  1. Demonstrates strong familiarity in Curry Supply product lines to enable effective and efficient equipment repairs.


  1. Safely operates and maintains a Curry Supply mechanics truck.


  1. Maintains and repairs on-road heavy trucks and equipment using service manuals and proper troubleshooting techniques.


  1. Diagnoses technical problems and determines proper corrective actions.


  1. Troubleshoots to identify and isolate failed equipment components.


  1. Conducts hydraulic pressure testing.


  1. Completes hydraulic and electrical diagnostic repairs.


  1. Repairs hydraulic, electrical and crane equipment.


  1. Replaces compressor components.


  1. Evaluates parts for reusability and determines cause of failure.


  1. Writes orders for parts needed to complete repairs so billing can be processed accurately.


  1. Maintains and documents accurate service reports.


  1. Manages customer feedback and addresses complaints.


  1. Builds positive relationships with customers and resolve challenges in a professional manner.


  1. Willing and able to travel on overnight trips.


  1. Performs other duties as assigned.
