Summary

Under the supervision of the Training Manager and General Manager, the Instructional Lead is responsible for supporting the quality, consistency, and development of the swim instruction program. This role provides hands-on training, evaluations, mentoring, and curriculum support for both new and current instructors. The Instructional Lead ensures that lesson delivery aligns with Premier Swim Academy's curriculum standards and contributes to ongoing curriculum and training development across locations.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Teach a minimum of 10 hours per week of high-quality lessons that serve as models for training, observation, and ongoing staff development.
  • Assist in running the new-hire 2-week training program as outlined by the Training Manager.
  • Coordinate all training schedules in alignment with the Training Manager.
  • Conduct classroom and in-water training sessions to introduce trainees to Premier's instructional techniques, curriculum, and teaching theory.
  • Maintain a strong and up-to-date understanding of Premier curriculum, teaching techniques, and advancement standards.
  • Support management and the Training Manager with the operation and upkeep of the online learning system (TalentLMS).
  • Evaluate current instructors and provide clear, professional, and constructive feedback.
  • Assist in ongoing staff development, including in-service training, deck observations, and in-water mentoring.
  • Communicate curriculum context and expectations to participants, parents, and staff when needed.
  • Support consistent and accurate student advancement through the curriculum.
  • Assist in writing, filming, and developing new training modules, materials, and presentations.
  • Travel to multiple locations as needed to maintain training consistency across the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear professional instruction both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to explain and teach the Premier curriculum to new hires, regardless of prior aquatics experience.
  • Ability to create a warm, welcoming, and productive training environment.
  • Ability to provide positive, constructive, and actionable feedback to current instructor staff.
  • Ability to create and maintain a training environment conducive to learning.
  • Receptive to feedback from Training Manager, Program Directors, Facility Managers, and instructor staff.
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in curriculum, teaching methods, or program needs.
  • Ability to have necessary, honest conversations when performance concerns arise.
  • Initiative to independently manage workload without constant supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work at multiple Premier Swim Academy locations.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential job functions. The employee must frequently stand, walk, talk, hear, stoop, crouch, and use their hands to handle materials or operate equipment. The employee must be able to swim, demonstrate instruction techniques, and teach an average of 10 hours per week. Lifting or assisting a child up to 50 pounds may occasionally be required. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment includes moderate to loud noise levels in a warm and humid pool setting. Employees must follow all safety procedures and maintain awareness of conditions around the pool.
