About the Role

The Account Executive will be responsible for growing Mediavine's list of publishers. You will work within the Publisher Development Team's framework to identify new opportunities, build relationships, and bring in new business that meets company goals and priorities.ย 

Growing our business requires an emphasis on quality as well as quantity. The person in this role will work as a part of the team to ensure that prospective Mediavine publishers are as extensively vetted for brand safety, traffic, and advertising performance potential as the rest of our clients. In this position, you will contribute to helping Mediavine expand its base of publishers and position the company as an indispensable partner within a dynamic ecosystem. This role will report directly to the VP of Publisher Development.

Essential Responsibilities:

Prospect new publisher opportunities in all verticals that qualify for Mediavine and all of its programs and offeringsย 

Pitch the Mediavine solution and close business that meets or exceeds the numbers given by the VP of Publisher Developmentย 

Effectively build and manage individual pipelines by maintaining active engagement with new and existing leads through creative follow-up generating increased interest and excitementย 

Have a deep understanding of the ad tech landscapeย 

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Mediavine's products and services

Actively reach out to web properties that align with Mediavine's quality standards

Establish, build, and maintain relationships with clients, and serve as a sounding board/point of contact for the clients you've helped to onboardย 

Participate in strategic calling and messaging to identify new business opportunities

Effectively manage inbound lead flow as well as execute outbound prospecting initiatives

Establish the priorities of prospect outreach and the order of approach

Lead introductory/ discovery calls with publishersย 

Collaborate and contribute to the success of the publisher development and publisher success teamย 

Stays current on competitors and industry trends while proactively sharing knowledge with the team

Assist as a point of escalation for issues that may arise, as neededย 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Business/Publisher Development in the adtech, digital publishing, and/or technology spaceย 
  • Prior or current experience working remotely with a distributed team of stakeholders and customersย 
  • Experience with the blogging/web publishing communityย 
  • Experience with the full sales cycle with the ability to close dealsย 
  • Strong proficiency with Google Suiteย 
  • Experience with communication platforms like Slackย 
  • Experience working with a CRM such as Hubspot, Salesforce, etc.ย 
  • An understanding of the online marketing and advertising industriesย 
  • An understanding of sales and account management best practices; both inbound and outbound, with the ability to adjust and utilize different methods of communication to achieve goalsย 
  • Ability to understand a customer's needs, and navigate a conversation to present the most useful information with each interactionย 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully present a value propositionย 
  • Ability to meet sales targets in coordination with executive and other key stakeholders within the organizationย 
  • Strong relationship management skills, with both internal and external contacts Ability to deliver constructive feedback and ideas to the overall team Strong written & verbal communication skillsย 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and handle multiple prioritiesย 
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis, for business opportunities, our annual All Hands Retreat, Team Retreats/Meetings and/or industry events/conferences (approx. 30%)
