Job description

Porter - Custodian (PER DIEM)

Masonicare Health Center - Wallingford, CT


Day Shift & Evening Shift / Weekend Availability Needed

**Must have floor Care experience** - and familiar with operation of floor care machines


Project Housekeeper - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, quality assessment and improvement programs, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.

2. Works from a schedule that outlines and defines frequency and timing or tasks. Leads works with cleaning crew or assigned projects. Performs duties of housekeeper when not assigned project work.

3. Empties trash, biomedical waste and recyclables and transports to central collection site. Transports from site to compactor/recycling dock. Operates compactor. Packages biomedical waste.

4. Strips and refinishes floors, extracts carpets. Dry mop and wet mop floors.

5. Washes walls and windows. Hangs and removes draperies and cubicle curtains. Washes, repairs beds, wheelchairs, geri chairs and other patient equipment and/or furnishings.

6. Moves, removes, and relocates furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc. as directed. Set-ups for meetings, activities and special programs.

7. Performs isolation and terminal cleaning following prescribed procedures.

8. Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents/patients recognizing their age, needs, abilities and physical condition.

9. Attends department & MHC meetings and inservice programs.

10. Understands and follows universal precautions as it pertains to their department.

11. Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates safety, respect, care and concern for our residents/patients/clients and staff. Reports to clinical staff any concerns that might warrant attention on behalf of the resident. Maintain a healthy, clean, safe environment for the population of MHC.

12. Operates vacuum cleaners and some mechanical floor/carpet machinery.

13. Removes and hangs window draperies and cubicle curtains.

14. Washes window draperies and cubicle curtains. Washes walls, vents, etc.

15. Assists other MHC Departments as needed.

16. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School or GED

Experience: **Must have floor Care experience, and On-The-job Training
