Our products cater to modern parents, leading education providers, creative enthusiasts, prosumers and kitchen enthusiasts. Additionally WobbleWorks has developed a strong pipeline of future products that will add new verticals and further broaden the customer base.
WobbleWorks has grown rapidly since its founding, operating globally with offices on three continents, investing heavily in people, infrastructure and brand development, and a presence across major retailers in the USA and around the world.
This role is responsible for the development of new products and technologies, as well as the enhancement of existing product lines. The Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the "sketch to scale" development of our rapidly growing portfolio of consumer goods. You will play an integral role in ensuring R&D initiatives are completed on time, within scope, and within budget, all while achieving desired product functionality.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a self starter, problem solver, experienced in rapid R&D and mass manufacture product design. They must be comfortable working within a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment. Asia-Pacific manufacturing experience with a focus in electro-mechanical consumer goods is a plus.

Location
  • Hybrid, requires travel to NYC office (located near Union Square Park) 2-3 times per week

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Innovation: Be a major voice in new product ideation, providing raw concepts and vetting viability of an ever growing idea pool of fun innovations for our customers.
  2. Research: Conduct research related to high priority and approved R&D concepts, ensuring high confidence in product success.
  3. Prototyping: Develop prototypes of assigned products and projects to prove viability of product concepts through various rapid prototyping avenues while ensuring adherence to global safety regulations.
  4. Development: Create viable product models that meet visual look & feel targets while maintaining desired performance goals; evaluated and approved by a cross functional team (in collaboration with Industrial Design).
  5. Product Design: Prepare 3D models of approved design concepts, with an emphasis on design for mass manufacture to share with manufacturing partners.
  6. Documentation: Create and maintain bills of materials, drawings, & other requisite documentation required for project success (in collaboration with Industrial Design, Design Engineering & Sr. Manager, Product Development).
  7. Project Ownership: Lead project management of new product development from R&D stages into production working with cross-functional departments to ensure high quality launches.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of professional relevant experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across functional audiences with different backgrounds
  • Fluent in English is mandatory. Multilingual skills (Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.) preferred
  • Parametric Modelling/ CAD - Solidworks; preferred CSWP / CSWE certification
  • Experience designing for manufacturing
  • Design for Excellence mindset; proven experience owning product lifecycle from ideation to mass production
  • Proven success in creating and improving production process
  • Experienced in FFF (FDM) printing
  • Experienced in Adobe Illustrator
  • Preferred: Knowledgeable in Electromechanical system design
  • Preferred: Experience in toy industry/toy design/injection molding

Other important information:
This is a hybrid, US-based role. The ideal candidate is based in NYC metro area and able to commute to our NYC office 2-3 times per week.
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 and is based on experience, skills, and location.
