Position:

The Department of Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Film and/or Television Production at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will teach film and/or television-related courses and have professional experience in directing, producing, or other creative aspects of film and/or television production.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, student advisement, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in an inclusive environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.


Required Qualifications:  

  • Terminal degree (such as an M.F.A.) in film and/or television production from an accredited institution.
  • College, University-level teaching experience in single or multi-camera production, taught in person.
  • Professional industry experience in film or television production.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or potential for creating an inclusive, student-centered learning environment for a diverse student body using effective and inclusive engagement and culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students. 
  • Evidence of effective teaching experience at the college or university level in single/multi-camera, film or/and television production
  • Professional experience in Directing and/or Producing.
  • Professional experience in Single/Multi-Camera Production.
  • Membership in one or more professional Guilds such as the DGA, WGA, ACE, ASC, MPSE, MPEG, CAS, or PGA desired.
