These programs often cover topics like software development, algorithms, data structures, networking, and cybersecurity. CST programs can be found at various levels, including certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, and even postgraduate studies. They prepare students for careers in technology fields and can also provide foundational knowledge for further study or specialization.

Professionals in a CST program often encounter challenges such as managing strict sterilization protocols, handling high volumes of surgical instruments, and maintaining attention to detail under time pressure. To thrive as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), you need a solid understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and anatomy, typically supported by completion of an accredited surgical technology program and certification. Familiarity with surgical instruments, operating room protocols, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems is essential.
