To thrive as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Director, you need a strong background in sustainability, business strategy, and stakeholder engagement, often supported by a relevant degree in business, environmental studies, or a related field. Familiarity with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting frameworks, sustainability certifications, and data analysis tools is typically required. Professionals involved in CSRD compliance often encounter challenges such as interpreting evolving regulatory requirements, aligning sustainability data across multiple departments, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) disclosures. Teams must collaborate closely with legal, finance, operations, and sustainability departments to gather reliable information and standardize reporting processes.
