ABOUT THE ROLE

CSI Electrical Contractors Inc. is seeking SCADA engineering professionals to assist with the technical design and integration of substation and renewable energy Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) systems.


CSI Electrical Contractors Inc. engagement in renewable energy and battery storage projects require a variety of SCADA engineering related activities to be performed. This work entails reviewing conceptual and detailed designs of SCADA hardware, networking equipment, fiber networks, communication diagrams, Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens, and points lists. This also includes site support and integration activities for the local data network, field network, and coordination of related controls systems. Qualified individuals will assist with quality assurance checking, specification writing, standards development, factory acceptance testing, cyber security auditing, testing, integration, and commissioning support at project sites.

Essential Functions

  • Work directly with project teams reviewing design documents and deliverables (drawings, points maps, configuration files, etc.) for systems and components related to the substation and renewable energy SCADA systems
  • Provide oversight, direction, and support to field crews as projects are being constructed
  • Responsible for the Network / SCADA engineering aspects on photovoltaic and BESS designs and pursuit projects
  • Duties include the areas of Network design and programming (LAN/WAN), SCADA design and programming, Field SCADA Integration, Field Network integration, and troubleshooting
  • Supports commissioning activities for Substation, PV Array, and BESS
  • Basic understanding of discipline specific technical designs, engineering principles, business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Assist field personnel in resolving unanticipated site issues and conditions
  • Review equipment vendor drawings on major equipment from manufacturers
  • Provide engineering support for proposals, estimating, procurement and construction
  • Provide engineering review of internal and external design documents and submittals
  • Review and ensure detailed designs aligned with our customer requirements, applicable industry codes and standards, best industry practices
  • Verify that the designs that are constructed agree with the electrical engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings, and QA/QC
  • Support development of technical requirements and standards for fabrication and construction bid packages
  • Has knowledge of software programs and protocols: IEEE 61850, IEC 61131-3, SEL, ABB & GE platforms, DNP, Modbus, Bocce, etc.
  • Has experience with routers, managed switches, LAN development, WAN development
  • Has experience with integration and debug of programs in a substation or industrial environment
  • Works independently with direction from SCADA Engineering Manager
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, Project Engineers, to successfully deliver design projects
  • Provides technical support to personnel/cross functional teams supporting the assigned projects.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders to review to review schedule and progress
  • Coordinate with Construction Manager, Field Superintendent, General Foreman, Foremen and Project Manager, to provide schedule and progress updates

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of 4 to 7 years of related work experience (Can be a combination of trade & relevant work experience)
  • Preferred graduate of four-year college or university with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related Engineering program. Strongly preferred the degree is from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum
  • Possess a minimum of a vocational degree in electronics/computer/networks
  • Experience in utility-scale solar/PV projects, highly preferred
  • Competency with electrical system sizing at all levels, experience with Utility and/or Commercial scale renewable EPC projects, independent engineering and nuances of design, and analysis of operational project data and performance is a plus
  • This an office position that will require field time with the ability to travel and work remotely

  • Salary $95,000-$135,000/ year
    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. CSI reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the selected candidate's qualifications.
