Job description


We are looking for a Systems Engineer to work closely with an assigned Account Manager to support Federal Civilian accounts. The Systems Engineer's main mission will be to support the sales organization in all technical matters regarding pre-sales, sales calls, and post-sales technical follow-up. We are seeking a self-starter with extensive pre-sales experience, polished presentation skills, and ability to negotiate large, complex sales cycles. The ideal candidate will have a strong networking and security background and experience with Fortinet products.
Responsibilities:
  • Pre-sales - assist in qualifying sales leads from a technical standpoint.
  • Sales calls - be the main technical resource on sales calls and answer/educate the customer on topics ranging from features, specifications, and functionality to solution integration.
  • Maintain expert level product knowledge of Fortinet's solutions and understand advantages over key competitors.
  • Collaborate with Fortinet Federal teams and customers to architect secure network services for Federal agencies utilizing and leveraging all capabilities in Fortinet's products.
  • Create and deliver presentations on site or via web conferencing tools.
  • Lead and support proof of concept/value demonstrations, to include establishing success criteria in coordination with customers.
  • Provide post-sales training and ongoing assistance to customers, ensuring they can effectively utilize Fortinet solutions.
  • Leverage or create technical marketing collateral such as white papers and solution briefs of Fortinet products to appeal to partners and customers.

Requirements:
Networking / Security Skills
  • 7+ years' experience in LAN/WAN/Internet services administration and network security products such as: NGFW and IDS/IPS.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP.
  • Expert knowledge of the following technologies: Routing, Switching, MPLS, VPN, and SDWAN.
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and ISIS.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: ADVPN, LAN, WAN, IPS, DLP, AntiVirus, Web Filtering, NAC.
  • Strong understanding of the following technologies and protocols: RADIUS, LDAP, SAML, PKI, IPSEC/ESP, Firewall, Deep Packet Inspection, 802.1X, 802.1Q, SSH, SSL/TLS,SSL/TLS Decryption, Syslog, Encryption Ciphers.
  • Strong understanding of vulnerabilities, exploits, malware, ransomware, etc.

Virtualization
  • Understanding and knowledge of virtualization technologies such as: KVM, ESXi, HyperV, and OpenStack.
  • Working knowledge of public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

General
  • 4+ years' experience in pre-sales support as a sales or systems engineer covering Federal Civilian Executive Branch customers, and the ability to work complex, long-term sale engagements in a technical role.
  • Knowledge of Federal compliance requirements for Federal agencies and partners to include, but not limited to FIPS 140-2/3, TIC 3.0, CDM, DOD STIG, CSfC, CMMC, and NIST 800-53/171/207.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze difficult problems in complex environments using a systematic approach.
  • Knowledge of competitive network and security products.
  • Expert communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically.

Other Preferred Skills
  • Experience developing and utilizing TCL, Perl, Python, and other programing/scripting languages.
  • Expertise with Linux and various Linux/Unix scripting languages.
  • DEVOPS experience with APIs, YAML, JSON, NETCONF, OpenConfig.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Training and certifications within the network security field.
  • NSE-8/FCX, CCIE, JNCIE, CISSP level certifications preferred.

Salary Range / On Target Earnings: $165,500 - $236,500
