The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) seeks a Senior Coordinator, South Central States to co-manage the state sportsmen’s caucus effort organized under the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) and the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) programs for three states (AR, OK, and TX) within CSF’s Southern Region. The Senior Coordinator, South Central States will also play a key role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with industry partners, donors, and other strategic stakeholders assisting with development initiatives that support the long-term growth and sustainability of CSF’s mission throughout the region.

Founded in 1989, CSF is the informed authority across outdoor issues and serves as the primary conduit for influencing public policy. Working with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC), and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC), CSF gives a voice to hunters, anglers, recreational shooters, and trappers on Capitol Hill and throughout state capitols advocating on vital outdoor issues that are the backbone of our nation’s conservation legacy.

The Senior Coordinator, South Central States reports directly to the Southern States Manager and serves as the primary liaison for their assigned state Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucuses, state fish and wildlife agencies, industry partners, and conservation organizations. The position is responsible for monitoring and tracking state legislation and regulatory rulemaking, coordinating events, supporting fundraising and development initiatives, and assisting with the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of development prospects and donor relationships in the region with a primary focus on donors and prospective donors in Texas. The Senior Coordinator, South Central States also serves as the primary point of contact for assigned caucuses and members of the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC), providing policy analysis, legislative tracking, strategic guidance, and administrative support to strengthen caucus operations and advance CSF’s mission.

The successful candidate must be an outgoing individual who is skilled at interacting with others. The candidate must also be a self-starter with excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. This position requires the ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Consistent with CSF personnel policies, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to achieve results with minimal day-to-day supervision typically found in a traditional office setting.

• Analyze and track state legislation and regulations of interest to sportsmen and women in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
• Serve as the point of contact for inquiries from legislators, state agencies, governor offices, conservation organizations, and allied industry partners interested in strengthening or assisting state sportsmen’s caucuses in the region.
• Liaise, provide guidance, and serve as a clearinghouse for information of relevance to the state sportsmen’s caucuses in the region.
• Actively engage in the policy process, including working towards bill introduction, providing expert written and oral testimony, coalition building around a particular issue, and more.
• Collaborate with development staff to identify, cultivate, and steward prospective donors, corporate partners, and conservation-minded stakeholders throughout Texas to support the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
• Assist in the development and execution of fundraising strategies, sponsorship opportunities, donor engagement activities, and special events that support regional and organizational development goals.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and partners through regular communication, meetings, and event participation.
• Organize individual state caucus and regional fundraising events.
• Represent CSF at state caucus functions, state and regional meetings, and events.
• Develop regular content for an electronic newsletter for state issues and state caucus activity.
• Facilitate interactions between partners, state agencies, state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses, and Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus members.
• Maintain accurate records of partner and donor engagement activities and assist with development reporting, prospect tracking, and other fundraising initiatives within the region as needed.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Candidates with degrees in public policy, wildlife biology, fisheries biology, conservation biology, or natural resource management preferred.
• Supporter of hunting, fishing, trapping, recreational shooting and professional wildlife management. Preference given to current license holders and avid sportsmen and women.
• Knowledge of the legislative process and experience working with state legislatures, Congress and/or governmental agencies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and/or familiarity with the legislative process, state legislatures, Congress, and/or governmental agencies and sportsmen’s policy issues.
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant policy work experience.
• Policy experience in at least one of the states in the region (AR, OK, and TX) with experience in TX being highly preferred.
• Experience assisting with donor prospect research, cultivation, and stewardship in a nonprofit setting.
• Familiarity with regional issues, politics, and demographics necessary to form productive relationships and conduct meaningful discussions within the region.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholder groups, elected officials, and their staff members.
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and process objectives with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated strengths in written communications, policy analysis, and public speaking.
• Team player.
• Willingness to travel (up to 25%).
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, when needed, including evenings and weekends.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The successful candidate will reside and work remotely within the established region to allow for rapid response to their state capitals (specific location to be mutually agreed upon). CSF and the successful candidate will agree to the terms of the work location arrangement prior to starting employment. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Texas, with a strong preference for those in or near the Austin or Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan areas.
