Job description

Project Manager Digital Assets Initiative

6-Month contract (possible extension) | Hybrid: Onsite MonThu (Kansas City) / Remote Friday

About the Role

A Kansas City financial institution is launching Digital Assets a new, high-visibility cryptocurrency product and needs an experienced Project Manager to own delivery from end to end. This is a single-PM role: you'll run the project independently, not as part of a PM team, coordinating across roughly six to seven IT teams while serving as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders and executives.

UMB is targeting production rollout by the end of September and a full customer-base launch in Q4, so process discipline and a strong command of the room matter as much as PM fundamentals.

What You'll Do
  • Own and drive the Digital Assets project from initiation through launch, managing scope, schedule, and cross-team dependencies
  • Enforce UMB's project documentation and governance standards (TMF/DLC process) to keep the initiative audit-ready throughout
  • Coordinate across IT, business, and executive stakeholders, with regular presentations to senior leadership
  • Identify schedule risk early and hold teams accountable to keep the rollout on track for the September production target
  • Manage the project using UMB's internal PM tool (SPM)
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of Project Management experience strongly preferred (5+ years acceptable with digital asset/crypto experience)
  • Proven ability to enforce process and documentation discipline on a team not just coordinate it
  • Confident, polished communicator comfortable presenting to and working directly with executive leadership
  • Experience with Waterfall methodology (this is not an Agile/Scrum environment)
  • Able to work onsite MondayThursday in downtown Kansas City
Nice to Have
  • PMP certification (preferred, not required)
  • Banking or financial services industry experience
  • Cryptocurrency or digital asset experience (rare, but a meaningful differentiator)
  • Technical/product management background (a plus, not the priority strength as a PM matters more)
