Crypto internships are entry-level positions designed for students or beginners to gain industry experience, focusing on learning and support tasks. While internships serve as a stepping stone, analysts require more credentials and industry knowledge. Both roles are integral to the crypto industry but differ significantly in experience level and responsibilities.

What is a crypto internship?

A crypto internship is a temporary position for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the cryptocurrency industry. Interns may work with blockchain technology, digital assets, crypto trading, or related areas within companies such as exchanges, startups, and investment firms. The role typically involves supporting research, development, marketing, or business operations, allowing interns to learn about the rapidly evolving crypto ecosystem. Crypto internships can be remote or in-person and often provide valuable networking and career development opportunities.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a crypto internship?

As a crypto intern, you may be involved in a variety of projects ranging from blockchain research and smart contract development to market analysis and community engagement. Many interns assist with testing and improving decentralized applications (dApps), analyzing transaction data, or supporting token launch initiatives. The specific projects often depend on the company's focus—technical teams may have interns work on code reviews or protocol updates, while business teams might involve interns in partnership research or user education initiatives. This hands-on experience provides valuable exposure to the fast-evolving crypto ecosystem and opportunities to collaborate with experienced engineers, product managers, and marketers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a crypto intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Crypto Intern, you need a foundational understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and basic finance or computer science, often supported by relevant coursework or self-study. Familiarity with crypto wallets, exchanges, smart contract platforms (like Ethereum), and tools such as Excel or Python is typically expected. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills set top candidates apart. These abilities are crucial for navigating the fast-evolving crypto landscape, contributing to projects, and learning rapidly in a dynamic industry.

Job description

About Shift Markets
Shift Markets began in the world of traditional finance as a pioneer in FX technology. Recognizing the transformative potential of digital assets early on, we set out to bridge the gap between traditional markets and crypto, making digital asset trading accessible to businesses of all sizes, from emerging brokerages to global institutions.
We are a global team with a shared mission to innovate in crypto infrastructure. Whether collaborating in office, connecting remotely, or representing Shift at industry events, we work together as one to move finance forward. We believe collaboration fuels creativity, diversity drives strength, and curiosity keeps us ahead of the curve.
Every great company is built by great people. Join us to help shape the future of digital asset infrastructure.
About the Role
We're hiring a Sales Associate to drive outbound and inbound pipeline for our prediction-markets and crypto-exchange-infrastructure business.
You'll own the top of the sales funnel: identifying operators building prediction-market and exchange products, running outbound sequences, qualifying inbound leads, and booking meetings for senior sales. You'll work directly with growth and partnerships to turn market signal into pipeline, and with senior sales to close it.
This is an early-career role with a clear path into a full sales-cycle seat. You'll help set the standard for how we build pipelines as we scale into prediction markets.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Run outbound prospecting (email, LinkedIn, X) targeting founders and operators in prediction markets, crypto exchanges, and FX brokerages.
  • Qualify inbound leads generated by content, events, and partnerships, and route them to the right sales owner.
  • Build and operate AI-assisted workflows for prospect research, list-building, and CRM hygiene using tools like Claude, Apollo, and n8n.
  • Represent Shift at NYC crypto, fintech, and prediction-market events - meetups, side events, conferences, dinners. Bring back leads and intel.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data in the CRM; report weekly on outbound volume, response rates, and meetings booked.
  • Partner with the growth/marketing team to align outbound messaging with what's converting in content and community.

What We're Looking For
  • 0-3 years of experience. New graduates strongly encouraged.
  • Default fluency with AI tools as part of how you work - Claude, ChatGPT, Apollo, n8n, or similar
  • Sharp written communication - you can write a cold email that gets a reply, not just an open.
  • Real curiosity about prediction markets, crypto, and trading infrastructure. You don't need a finance degree, but you should be able to explain what a prediction market is and why it matters in two sentences.
  • Comfort in real rooms - this role involves NYC events and cold outreach.
  • Based in NYC or surrounds

Bonus Points
  • Prior internship or part-time experience in sales, BD, or account management.
  • Crypto-native - you've used a wallet, you follow CT, and you can explain why Polymarket and Kalshi compete.
  • Familiarity with a CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce) or GTM tooling like Apollo.
  • You've built and shipped something publicly - an outbound sequence engine, a scraper, an agent.

Why join Shift?
  • Help build the go-to-market motion for one of the most important infrastructure layers in crypto and prediction markets.
  • Work directly with senior operators - you'll be in the rooms where deals get done.
  • Real ownership from day one. Small team, fast cycles, clear runway to a full-cycle sales seat.
  • Full access to the AI tool stack we evaluate, including Claude, n8n, and Apollo.

This role requires 40 hours per week and is intended for candidates based in the United States. Compensation range is between $70 000 USD - $90 000 USD per annum dependent on experience.
