Crusher Mechanic

Position Title: Crusher Mechanic
Location: Montezuma County Road & Bridge Department
Department: Road & Bridge
Reports To: Lead Foreman

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Crusher Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on rock crushers, conveyors, screens, and related heavy equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, takes pride in high-quality work, and can work safely and effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair crushers, conveyors, screens, and other aggregate equipment
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
  • Replace and rebuild components such as bearings, shafts, rollers, belts, and gearboxes
  • Weld, fabricate, and make structural repairs as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations
  • Collaborate with operators and supervisors to ensure equipment reliability
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a crusher mechanic or heavy equipment technician
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license; CDL Class A preferred
Work Environment:

This role involves working outdoors, around heavy equipment, and may require bending, lifting, climbing, and exposure to dust, noise, and weather conditions.

Schedule:

Monday thru Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm: On-call for snow plowing in the winter.
