Job description

Job Summary
A Crusher Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining crushers and related equipment in mining or construction operations. They inspect equipment, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical skills, knowledge of crusher systems, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Essential Functions
Conduct daily inspections and routine maintenance of crushing plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on a wide variety of crushing and screening equipment.
Perform equipment overhauls, including the assembly, disassembly, and rebuilding of crushers.
Replace defective parts, adjust and calibrate machinery, and test equipment to confirm that repairs are complete.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, hoists, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and equipment manuals.
Weld and fabricate parts as needed for repairs and maintenance.
Assist with general plant maintenance and cleanup, including lubricating machinery and shoveling spilled material.
Follow all safety protocols, including those regulated by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Complete work orders and other documentation using a computer or tablet.
Work collaboratively with operators and supervisors to minimize equipment downtime.
Safety: A high regard for safety regulations and procedures.

Processing Knowledge - Understands the material flow, crushing, screening and stockpiling process of an aggregate operation. Understands how to adjust plant settings for optimal production efficiency and troubleshoot inefficiencies.
Technical Expertise (equipment) -Solid mechanical understanding of equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.
Teamwork and Collaboration - Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others to achieve common goals; contributes positively to group efforts, sharing knowledge, and being open to others' ideas and feedback.
Critical Thinking - Ability to analyze information objectively, evaluate different perspectives, and make well-informed decisions.

High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Experience
Prior experience in equipment maintenance within a mining, quarry, or heavy manufacturing environment is often required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Experience with various welding processes, such as stick and MIG.
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills to identify and resolve complex mechanical issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with team members and document repairs.
Other Requirements
The ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions, sometimes in confined spaces.
Travel is an inherent part of this role.
Time in the office performing administrative tasks, planning schedules, and analyzing reports.
Working outdoors in various weather conditions and potentially in environments with loud noise levels or moving mechanical parts.
Ability to wear PPE with on site/location.
The ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and handle unexpected situations is crucial.
