Our Next Generation Team strives to create environments that inspire kids and students to take the next step to building a relationship with Jesus and others.
Where you fit in
The Middle School Pastor/Lead will work to shepherd middle school students through their leadership of volunteer teams, students, parents and volunteers. By building and championing a leadership community, they will encourage others to grow in relationship with God. This position plays a key role in helping the church accomplish its mission through fostering and engaging in Godly relationships among students, parents, volunteers, church congregants, staff and internal ministry departments at The Crossing and others. This position is perfect for an outgoing individual, whom God has gifted with a heart for helping the next generation connect with Jesus, exemplary leadership skills, a desire to help others grow and learn, the unique ability to apply biblical values to current culture, an approachable and mature posture and outstanding communication abilities. What you'll be doing
Middle School Ministry Lead
  • Own and lead all aspects of the Middle School ministry, ensuring alignment with vision, values, and student needs
  • Oversee weekly Middle School services, shaping environments, teaching, games, and visuals to effectively engage a middle school audience
  • Design and lead small group strategy to ensure groups are healthy, consistent, and impactful
  • Plan and execute Middle School-specific events, including both organic relational gatherings and intentional off-site experiences

Discipleship, Care & Family Engagement
  • Provide pastoral care and crisis response for Middle School students and families
  • Operate within defined crisis management tiers in collaboration with Small Group Leaders, Student Pastors, and broader team
  • Partner with parents as primary disciplers, equipping and supporting them through the Middle School years
  • Own and lead the "Middle School On-Ramp" for incoming 5th grade students, including transition from Kids Crossing and first 30-day experience

Leadership Development & Volunteer Oversight
  • Equip, shepherd, and develop Middle School Small Group Leaders in partnership with the Student Associate Pastor
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Middle School Coaches and volunteer leaders within the structure
  • Oversee and invest in Middle School residents and interns, supporting their growth and development

Teaching & Ministry Integration
  • Serve as a key teacher and contributor to The Crossing Students Teaching Team
  • Lead integration efforts with local schools and oversee the 5th-grade promotion transition into Middle School ministry

Weekly Ministry Health & Execution
  • Ensure Middle School services are prepared, aligned, and executed with excellence
  • Monitor and respond to student and family care needs
  • Support and encourage leaders consistently
  • Maintain healthy and stable small group environments
  • Ensure new students are followed up with intentionally
  • Drive clear and consistent team communication

General
  • Other related duties as needed

What you'll bring to the team
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma
  • Minimum Experience: Three years in a full-time students position in an equivalent church setting or combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrates strong leadership ability and a positive, Godly influence to students and the next generation
  • Demonstrates strong technology experience (Gmail, Google Docs, Word, Excel, Rock, etc.)
  • Preferred Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Preferred Experience: Five years of full-time work on the students team in an equivalent church setting or non-profit organization
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check
  • Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States
