Job description

Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 8-12 on a beautiful 1,100-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics, and the outdoors.ย 

The Opportunity:ย 

The head coach is responsible for collaborating with FVS athletic administration on planning, leading, and directing the Cross Country program. They will be expected to follow the rules and regulations of FVS and CHSAA. This includes attending practices Monday through Friday from 3:30-5:00 pm and meets throughout the week, including most Saturdays. The head coach must complete the assigned coaching course and concussion course regulated by CHSAA prior to the start of the season.ย 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Cross Country Coaching Experience
  • Strong use of Google and Microsoft Office products
  • Previous experience in database management, OnBoard/Blackbaud a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication and social skills
  • Commitment to customer service
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Team player with a strong capacity for initiative
  • Transportation of students to and from activities using a non-CDL school vehicle

Educational/License Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Prefer IMPACT certification
  • Driver License or ability to obtain a CO driver's license
  • 3-5 years' experience coaching preferredย 

ย Working Conditions

  • Environment: Gym, athletic field working with prospective high school students
  • Physical Demands: Able to sit, stand and lift up to 30 lbs for eight hours per day, occasional weekend and/or weeknight obligations.
  • Working Relationships: Students, parents, admission personnel, and all other FVS employeesย 

Salary Range:ย $4,000, per season
