Job description

It's more than a job

With a sales career at Kuehne+Nagel, you'll drive long-term business success by mastering sales strategies, nurturing customer relationships and identifying new opportunities. At Kuehne+Nagel, our work is about more than we imagine.

Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a proven business development professional to drive the growth of our Road Logistics business across the Southern California and Baja California corridor. This strategic role will act as the subject matter expert for U.S.-Mexico cross-border logistics opportunities, helping customers navigate complex transportation, customs, warehousing, and supply chain challenges while expanding Kuehne+Nagel's presence in one of North America's fastest-growing nearshoring and manufacturing markets.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Road Logistics, Air Logistics, Sea Logistics, Contract Logistics, and Customs teams to identify, qualify, develop, and win cross-border business opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building meaningful customer relationships while delivering measurable commercial growth.

How you create impact
  • Drive business development initiatives focused on U.S.-Mexico cross-border transportation opportunities across Southern California and Baja California.
  • Develop and expand relationships with manufacturers, maquiladoras, nearshoring organizations, and strategic customers operating in the region.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for cross-border Road Logistics solutions and market trends.
  • Identify, qualify, and advance opportunities through the sales cycle, from initial discovery through implementation and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with Air, Ocean, Customs, and Contract Logistics teams to uncover and convert shared customer opportunities.
  • Design customer-centric transportation and supply chain solutions that address complex cross-border requirements.
  • Build and execute a strategic growth plan for the Southern California/Baja California corridor.
  • Analyze customer portfolios and market trends to identify high-potential growth opportunities.
  • Support tender and proposal activities by providing market expertise and solution recommendations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to strengthen Kuehne+Nagel's cross-border value proposition and competitive positioning.
  • Represent Kuehne+Nagel at customer meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities throughout the region.
  • Develop executive-level customer relationships that lead to long-term business growth.
  • Operate independently and create structure, priorities, and action plans in a dynamic growth environment.
  • Leverage existing customer and industry relationships to accelerate market penetration and revenue generation.
  • Deliver measurable revenue growth through strategic account development and cross-functional collaboration.
What we would like you to bring
  • 10+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, or supply chain business development.
  • Strong expertise in U.S.-Mexico cross-border transportation and supply chain operations, particularly within the Southern California and Baja California corridor.
  • Proven experience developing business within manufacturing, maquiladora, IMMEX, nearshoring, or industrial customer environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales opportunities from qualification through implementation and customer onboarding.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and create strategic plans with limited supervision.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple business units and influencing stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Fluent English required; Spanish fluency or professional working proficiency strongly preferred.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
