Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee luxury custom residential construction projects in the Santa Rosa area. This is an opportunity to manage high-end custom homes from preconstruction through final completion, working on projects that demand exceptional craftsmanship, organization, and client service.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in custom residential construction and is confident coordinating with clients, architects, designers, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams throughout every phase of the project. Success in this role requires excellent communication, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead luxury custom residential construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, designers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, field teams, and homeowners to ensure successful project execution.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope, constructability, and coordination issues.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve scheduling, budget, quality, and construction challenges.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and project stakeholders throughout construction.
  • Support field operations by providing timely information, coordinating resources, and resolving project issues.
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards, contractual requirements, and client expectations.
  • Maintain organized project records, meeting minutes, schedules, and reporting.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, trade partners, and internal team members.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing luxury custom residential construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, project sequencing, building systems, and high-end finishes.
  • Experience overseeing complex custom home projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Experience managing projects in the $5M-$25M range is preferred.
  • Ability to successfully manage long-duration projects, typically lasting 16-30 months.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and other project documentation.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, vendors, and client expectations.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with homeowners, architects, designers, and project stakeholders.
  • Stable employment history demonstrating long-term project management success.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site throughout the Santa Rosa area.
  • Local candidates or those willing to commute are strongly preferred.
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily in commercial construction may not be the best fit for this role.
