Job description

The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Information Technology Services welcomes applications for the position of Senior Slate CRM Developer

Salary Range

Essential Functions

The Senior Slate CRM Developer serves as the lead technical resource for the University’s Slate CRM environment, providing advanced solution design, development, integration, and technical leadership in support of admissions, enrollment, and related institutional processes. Working as a senior technical individual contributor, the position independently analyzes requirements and designs Slate applications, complex queries, automations, and cross-system integrations; establishes development standards and reusable components; and serves as the senior technical escalation point for the most complex Slate issues. The position provides technical mentorship and solution guidance to other developers and analysts without exercising supervisory authority, and collaborates with functional offices, Information Technology Services, and external partners to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions. Final enterprise architecture, cybersecurity exception, procurement, budget, and institutional enrollment-policy authority remain with the Director of Technology and other designated University leadership.

Slate Solution Design and Development
  1. 1. Independently analyze business requirements and design Slate CRM applications, workflows, forms, portals, communications, and automations that meet functional and technical needs.
  2. 2. Develop, test, document, and maintain complex Slate configurations, queries, deliverables, and custom solutions across the admissions and enrollment lifecycle.
  3. 3. Design and build reusable components, templates, and development patterns that improve consistency, maintainability, and efficiency across the Slate environment.
  4. 4. Evaluate new Slate features and capabilities and recommend adoption, configuration, and implementation approaches.
Database, SQL, and Reporting
  1. 5. Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, data exports, and reporting deliverables supporting operational, analytical, and compliance needs.
  2. 6. Design and maintain data structures, mappings, and transformation logic that support accurate data flow within Slate and to connected systems.
  3. 7. Ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency across Slate records, imports, exports, and integrations, and troubleshoot data issues to resolution.
Integrations and Cross-System Architecture
  1. 8. Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Slate and other institutional systems, including the student information system, PeopleSoft, third-party platforms, and external partner systems.
  2. 9. Build and maintain automated data feeds, APIs, web services, and scheduled processes supporting reliable cross-system data exchange.
  3. 10. Analyze integration requirements, recommend technical approaches, and coordinate implementation with functional and technical stakeholders within established architecture.
Technical Standards, Escalation, and Mentorship
  1. 11. Establish and maintain development standards, documentation practices, testing procedures, and technical guidelines for the Slate environment.
  2. 12. Serve as the senior technical escalation point for the most complex Slate issues and perform design, code, and solution reviews for other contributors.
  3. 13. Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and knowledge transfer to developers, analysts, and functional staff, without hiring, performance-evaluation, or work-scheduling authority.
  4. 14. Contribute technical expertise to enterprise architecture, security, and standards discussions, with final authority retained by designated University leadership.
Collaboration, Support, and Continuous Improvement
  1. 15. Partner with Admissions, Enrollment Management, Graduate Studies, and other offices to understand needs, translate them into technical solutions, and support adoption.
  2. 16. Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for Slate functionality, integrations, and performance, coordinating with vendors and University teams as needed.
  3. 17. Identify opportunities to improve Slate solutions, workflows, automation, and technical processes, and lead or recommend improvement initiatives.
  4. 18. Maintain current knowledge of Slate, CRM, integration, database, and security practices, and apply relevant developments to University solutions.
  5. 19. Maintain the confidentiality and security of student, applicant, and institutional data in accordance with University policy and applicable requirements.

  5. 5. Experience designing or maintaining integrations between enterprise systems, including data feeds, APIs, or web services.
