Your New Roleโ€ฆ

CNN seeks a talented Senior Editorial Producer to join The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown team in Atlanta, New York, or Washington D.C.! The Senior Editorial Producer is responsible for booking guests and panelists and requesting major, newsmaker interviews. The ability to collaborate well with internal and external stakeholders is critical to this position. This individual is the show's chief booking representative and is responsible for booking guests for live, daily interviews.

Your Role Accountabilitiesโ€ฆ
  • This individual is expected to identify, establish, cultivate and maintain critical relationships with newsmakers, experts, analysts, publicists and sources. The position requires knowledge of Congress and the federal government, and ideal candidates should have established relationships with communications directors and press secretaries.

  • Candidates must have outstanding editorial judgment and be informed about and interested in current events, politics, national security and international affairs. The position often requires coordinating guest bookings and making calls outside of regular office hours.

  • Candidates must have experience reacting quickly in breaking news situations to identify and book government officials, lawmakers, reporters and experts in situations where news is developing while the newscast is already on the air. Candidates must also have a strong grasp of using social media to find people involved in breaking news situations.

  • The Senior Editorial Producer will serve as an ambassador for the anchor and senior producers and must have exceptional people skills. This person must be in constant contact with senior producers about the status of guest bookings.

  • The Senior Editorial Producer will conduct pre-interviews with guests and analysts and will coordinate live and taped on-camera interviews and shoots. The role requires someone capable of proactively researching and pitching newsworthy stories and managing long-term booking opportunities.

  • The Senior Editorial Producer will mentor and serve as a resource to junior members of the staff and may be responsible for managing other editorial producers.

  • The Senior Editorial producer will be required to attend company events and may be asked to perform other related duties as assigned. Job may require travel for breaking news bookings.

Qualifications & Experienceโ€ฆ
  • At least seven years as a booking producer or equivalent experience is required.

  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in journalism or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Proven performance booking guests and an established contact list are required.

  • Ability to multi-task, execute quickly and remain calm is required.

  • Knowledge of current events, key players and issues in global affairs is required.

  • Exceptional organizational, writing and communication skills are essential.

  • Ability to travel as needed is required.

  • Language skills are a plus.

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discoveryโ€™s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $113,077.00 - $209,999.00 salary per year.
