How much do creo modeling jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 22, 2026, the average hourly pay for creo modeling in the United States is $40.33, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $31.25 and $43.51 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is Creo modeling?

Creo modeling refers to the process of creating 3D models and designs using Creo, a powerful computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by PTC. This software is widely used by engineers and product designers to create, analyze, and visualize complex parts and assemblies in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing. Creo modeling allows users to efficiently develop detailed digital prototypes, facilitating design changes, simulation, and collaboration throughout the product development cycle.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Creo Modeling Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creo Modeling Engineer, strong proficiency in 3D CAD design, mechanical engineering fundamentals, and a relevant engineering degree are essential. Expertise in using PTC Creo software, along with familiarity with PLM systems and industry-standard design practices, is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help professionals excel in collaborating with cross-functional teams and translating concepts into manufacturable designs. These skills ensure the creation of accurate, efficient, and innovative product models that meet both technical and business needs.

What is the difference between Creo Modeling vs CAD Designer?

AspectCreo ModelingCAD Designer
Primary FocusCreating detailed 3D models using PTC Creo softwareDesigning 2D drawings and concepts, often using various CAD tools
Skills & CertificationsProficiency in Creo, CAD software, and 3D modelingKnowledge of CAD software, drafting standards, and design principles
Work EnvironmentEngineering firms, manufacturing, product developmentArchitectural, industrial, or product design firms
Industry UsageCommon in mechanical and product engineeringUsed across multiple design disciplines including architecture and industrial design

Creo Modeling specialists focus on creating detailed 3D models primarily using PTC Creo, essential for product development and engineering. CAD Designers often work on drafting and conceptual design across various industries. While both roles require CAD skills, Creo Modeling emphasizes 3D modeling expertise, whereas CAD Design may involve broader drafting and design tasks.

What are some common challenges faced by Creo Modeling professionals in a collaborative engineering environment?

Creo Modeling professionals often encounter challenges such as managing complex assemblies, ensuring model consistency across team members, and resolving conflicts when multiple engineers work on shared designs. Coordinating with colleagues from different disciplines (like manufacturing and simulation) requires strong communication and version control practices to avoid errors or duplicated work. Staying updated on the latest Creo features and maintaining organized model structures are key to overcoming these challenges and ensuring smooth project workflows.

Job description

Are you the engineer everyone turns to when Creo gets difficult?

Do you enjoy mentoring engineers, solving complex design challenges, and driving engineering best practices?

ConMet is seeking an experienced PTC Creo expert to serve as the enterprise technical lead for Creo and help shape the future of engineering tools, standards, and processes across our global engineering organization.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on driving CAD best practices, mentoring engineers, managing enterprise Creo standards and configuration, and supporting ConMet's digital engineering and PLM transformation initiatives.

If you are passionate about engineering excellence and enjoy helping others succeed, we'd like to hear from you.

Join Our Engineering Systems Team

ConMet is building an internal team of Engineering Systems experts to support our long-term Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Digital Engineering roadmap.

As part of this team, you will work at the forefront of modernizing how engineering data, product designs, and development processes are managed across the enterprise. You will have the opportunity to influence engineering best practices, support strategic technology initiatives, and help shape the future engineering environment at ConMet.

This is a unique opportunity to become part of the team leading ConMet's engineering digital transformation and helping define the future state of engineering systems and processes across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the enterprise technical authority for PTC Creo.
  • Develop and maintain CAD software standards and best practices.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on CAD best practices.
  • Manage enterprise Creo configurations, standards, and deployment practices.
  • Drive adoption of engineering standards and model quality expectations.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to improve engineering processes.
  • Help engineers effectively utilize Creo within a Windchill PLM environment.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience using PTC Creo.
  • Experience developing and driving CAD software standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers on effective CAD usage and engineering best practices.
  • Experience managing Creo software configurations, standards, and enterprise deployment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for improving engineering productivity, design quality, and engineering excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Windchill or another Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Experience supporting engineering process improvement, systems implementation, or digital transformation initiatives.

Why This Role Is Different

  • Play a key role in our PLM and Digital Engineering transformation roadmap.
  • Become the recognized Creo expert for a global engineering organization.
  • Influence how engineering teams design, collaborate, and manage product data.
  • Focus on technical leadership without people-management responsibilities.
  • Work directly with engineers to improve capability and productivity.
  • Drive changes that will shape engineering processes and standards for years to come.

This is an onsite (not hybrid or remote) office job based at ConMet's corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington. Non-local candidates must be open to relocation (relocation assistance available).

Note: Employer will not sponsor visas for position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis.
