Loss Mitigation (Collection) Officer 1

As an American First Associate, you’ll play a vital role in serving the community while enjoying a rewarding career. We are a $1 Billion financial institution located in Orange County looking for Collections Officer with excellent customer service skills, initiative and a desire to work in a team setting.


Position Summary

As a Loss Mitigation Officer, you will collect on delinquent loans and over-drawn accounts to minimize losses and ensure that Credit Union assets are adequately protected while maintaining favorable member relations. You will determine and recommend modified payment schedules and extensions by evaluating members’ present status in order to make provisions for recovering outstanding balances. In addition, this position is responsible for processing all types of member levies and subpoena requests. 


Qualifications

  • Minimum one-year experience in collections 
  • Working knowledge and experience in all phases of collections, including bankruptcy, repossessions, fraud, skip-tracing, small claims, and truth-in-lending requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Federal and State collection laws terms and definitions 
  • Experience with automated collection systems including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience working with digital signing software (DocuSign), video conferencing (Microsoft Teams), and the ability to use online and digital resources to collaborate with others remotely.

 

The salary range for this position is $24.35-$30.44-$-$36.00

The salary range for positions are based on current market industry studies as well as job evaluations. 

During the offer phase Management will determine the appropriate compensation within the compensation range based on experience, education and internal equity. 


Schedule 

  • Onsite Position Mon-Fri (40 hours a week) with an opportunity to work in a hybrid environment after 90 days of employment. 
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
  • Occasional late shift 11:15 am-7:45 pm
  • Must Reside in California
