IS THIS POSITION FOR YOU?
As a Collections Manager, you are responsible for a variety of duties relating to the administration and operation of the Collections Department, which includes records, collections, and insurance. Responsible for coaching and supervising the staff. Ensures collection policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations, are being adhered to
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provides training to all personnel in the Collections Department.
  2. Supervises all personnel in the Collections Department, ensuring work is completed timely and accurately.
  3. Monitors time and attendance of personnel in the Collections Department.
  4. Monitors the collection of all loans and debt instruments.
  5. Establishes and maintains effective collection procedures.
  6. Reviews accounts assigned to Collections Specialists where action beyond routine collection procedures must be approved.
  7. Prepares, implements, and supervises the budget for the department that is consistent with the long-range plan of the credit union.
  8. Recommends to management loans to be charged off on a monthly basis. Provides report to present for approval to the Board of Directors.
  9. Maintains a current manual of operations for Collections Department. Operating procedures for all major activities within the department should be included.
  10. Annually provides a written performance evaluation for department staff.
  11. Maintains current, in-depth knowledge of bankruptcy and litigation of delinquent accounts.
  12. Oversees the repossession of collateral on delinquent loans, real estate foreclosures, and other matters that require legal advice and assistance.
  13. Maintains all records of the collection program, including charged off loans, and updates information tracking systems.
  14. Is knowledgeable of all government rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to the operation of all areas under the Collections Department.
  15. Attends court hearings as required.
  16. Oversees vehicle titles and insurance products offered by the Credit Union.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education
High school diploma is required. College, business school, or related post high school training or equivalent related experience is preferred. A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related area from an accredited four-year college or university is desired.
Experience
Minimum of five years of financial institution experience managing a collection program of comparable or greater scale is preferred. Prefer experience in collection of consumer loans, credit cards, or similar accounts.
Physical, mental, and visual requirements
Most of the essential functions of this position are performed while seated at a desk. Extensive telephone work is performed, requiring good verbal communication skills. In working with repossessed collateral and foreclosed property, heavy lifting may be required at times. The Manager must be able to move freely from one area to another, as well as occasionally travel to areas within Middle Tennessee to inspect properties as needed. Property inspection often requires the ability to negotiate rough terrain and steep areas. Much of the work is performed using a personal computer and requires excellent visual, audio, and manual dexterity. The volume and nature of the duties of this position require the physical and mental stamina to handle multiple functions, meet required deadlines, and withstand periods of high stress.

A valid Tennessee driver's license is required as the company car is often used for this position.

This position requires a professional appearance and leadership qualities with the ability to coach, lead, and motivate staff. Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail, personal initiative, and display good judgment. Good organization, planning, and communication skills are required. A high degree of integrity, honesty, and dependability are necessary. Must work effectively with other departments and branches, function as a team player, and cooperate with co-workers, members, and business associates.
