Position Overview:

We are looking for a reliable Accounting Manager to assist in presenting financial statements for a federally chartered credit union that follow regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems.

You must be an organized professional with a great eye for detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

The goal is to contribute to keeping the accounting and financial processes of the credit union up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control. You will report to the VP of Finance.

More specifically you will:

  • Support most aspects of accounting management
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
  • Assist in the preparation of financials statements in compliance with official guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the accounting team and ensure the proper posting of journal entries, payment of invoices processed in a timely manner, manage the reconciliation of accounts for the monthly closings, and other daily accounting functions
  • Assist with daily cash management for the credit union
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
  • Participate in the preparation for the annual audit
  • Help in the development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
  • Review the credit union’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or other similar position
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or a related field
  • Accounting degree or a minimum of 6–9 hours of college accounting preferred
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulations
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply that knowledge to ensure compliance
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financials processing; including but not limited to budgeting, financials closure, and reporting
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, etc.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving
  • All qualified candidates must pass a credit and background check
