The Opportunity

Spring Footwear is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team and help guide the company's next phase of growth.

This is more than a traditional finance leadership role. The VP of Finance will serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, helping shape the company's long-term financial strategy, strengthen operational performance, and build the infrastructure necessary to support continued expansion.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on executive who enjoys balancing strategy with execution. You will lead enterprise-wide financial planning while overseeing Finance, Accounting, HR, Information Technology, and Risk Management. You will help build scalable systems, develop high-performing teams, improve profitability, and provide the financial leadership needed to support a growing multi-channel organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Partner directly with the CEO to develop and execute the company's long-term financial strategy.
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, participating in strategic planning and company-wide decision-making.
  • Provide financial leadership that supports sustainable growth, operational excellence, and long-term profitability.
  • Evaluate business opportunities, capital investments, expansion initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop financial models that support retail expansion, digital growth, inventory optimization, and new business initiatives.

Financial Planning & Performance

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Establish executive dashboards and KPIs that provide visibility into revenue, profitability, inventory productivity, cash flow, and working capital.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce operating costs, and increase overall business performance.
  • Deliver strategic financial insights that drive better business decisions across the organization.

Accounting & Financial Governance

  • Provide executive oversight of Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Credit, and Collections.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial statements and ensure the organization maintains the highest standards of financial integrity.
  • Support external audits, banking relationships, tax compliance, and corporate reporting requirements.

Multi-Channel Business Leadership

Provide financial leadership across Spring Footwear's diverse business channels, including:

  • Wholesale (National Accounts and Independent Retailers)
  • Direct-to-Consumer E-Commerce
  • Amazon Marketplace
  • Company-Owned Retail Stores

Partner with Sales, Merchandising, Operations, Supply Chain, Retail, and E-Commerce leaders to improve:

  • Channel profitability
  • Pricing strategies
  • Gross margin
  • Inventory productivity

  • Returns management
  • Working capital

Business Transformation & Technology

  • Lead enterprise-wide finance transformation initiatives.
  • Drive ERP modernization, reporting enhancements, automation, and Business Intelligence initiatives.
  • Improve financial systems, reporting capabilities, and operational workflows.
  • Champion continuous improvement and scalable business processes that support future growth.

Treasury, Capital & Risk Management

  • Lead banking relationships, treasury operations, and cash management strategies.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and capital allocation.
  • Evaluate financing opportunities and capital investments.
  • Direct enterprise risk management, insurance programs, and corporate compliance initiatives.

Legal & Corporate Governance 

  • Serve as the executive liaison with outside legal counsel on contracts, leases, trademarks, corporate governance, and other legal matters.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support executive leadership in evaluating legal and financial risks.

Executive Leadership & Organization Development

Provide executive oversight for:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced financial designation preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility.
  • Experience within wholesale distribution, retail, consumer products, footwear, apparel, or multi-channel organizations strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • GAAP
    • Financial planning and analysis
    • Inventory and cost accounting
    • Treasury and cash flow management
    • Internal controls
    • Financial reporting
  • Proven success leading finance transformation, ERP implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing cross-functional business operations beyond accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, leadership, and executive presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational strategy and drive measurable business results.
