Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

In this relationship-focused role, the Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong referral network, consulting with borrowers to assess their financing needs, and evaluating financial information to recommend appropriate loan products. This position plays a key role in guiding members through the mortgage process while delivering personalized solutions. The ideal candidate will reflect the credit unionโ€™s core values, demonstrate a passion for serving members, and consistently strive to provide exceptional service throughout every interaction.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, realtors, builders, and other referral partners; demonstrate the ability to deliver presentations and represent the credit union effectively in public and professional settings.
  • Proactively generate and manage a pipeline of mortgage loan applications to meet or exceed established monthly production goals.
  • Educate borrowers on available loan products, qualification criteria, regulatory requirements, and guide them through each step of the mortgage loan process.
  • Collect, review, and analyze financial information to assess borrower risk and overall financial condition; prepare and submit complete loan applications, ensuring all required disclosures and supporting documentation are included.
  • Remain up to date on current lending guidelines, state and federal regulations, TVFCU loan products, and evolving market trends to ensure compliance and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with mortgage lending operations in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Negotiate loan rates and terms, lock loans as appropriate, and actively manage a pipeline to ensure timely processing and maintain an acceptable pull-through rate.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies in both individual loan files and daily lending operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of Credit Union regulations by completing required online courses annually.
  • Proactively demonstrate the TVFCU core values of integrity, honesty, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, accountability and strong relationships in every interaction with members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2 years of mortgage origination experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED at a minimum.
  • Capability to plan for contingencies and anticipate problems and identify risks.
  • Effectively listen and respond to customersโ€™ needs.
  • Ability to effectively convey and receive ideas, information, and directions.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional written and verbal communication.
