Join Union Pacific's Marketing & Sales (M&S) department as a year-round intern and gain hands-on experience while contributing to how we help build America. Interns will build knowledge and experience in our core business groups-learning their vision, objectives, processes, systems, and services. You'll work closely with peers and have opportunities to interact with senior leaders, putting your leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high-value project assignments.
This opportunity requires in-person work in Omaha, NE during the summer months (mid-May through early August). Union Pacific provides relocation stipends and housing accommodations for students living more than 75 miles from Omaha. During the academic year, interns are expected to work 15-25 hours per week, with full-time availability during the summer.
The estimated wage for this position is $21.00-$25.00 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Accountabilities
  • Support Core Business Operations: Learn and assist with essential department tasks, processes, and customer service activities, directly supporting our front-line Sales team.
  • Contribute to Growth Initiatives: Support customer outreach, business development efforts, and help identify new market opportunities.
  • Support Our Teams: Provide administrative assistance to teams, helping keep projects and operations running smoothly.
  • Collaborate on Projects: Develop and execute action plans for team projects, working collaboratively to improve internal processes and enhance both customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Build Professional Networks: Engage with professionals across departments and build meaningful connections throughout the company.
  • Manage Real Initiatives: Assist with project management and take ownership of special assignments that make a real impact.
  • Use Industry Tools: Use platforms like Salesforce and Tableau to document work, communicate effectively with the M&S team, and generate reports to support sales initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Required
  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills

Qualifications - Preferred
  • College credits towards a degree in Business Administration, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Economics, or Management
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)

Physical and Mental Job Requirements
  • This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
  • Maintain concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions
