Role Summary:

Under the direction of the Collections Manager/Team Leader, the Collector I requests and pursues payment on delinquent accounts through communication with members.  

What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Understand and demonstrate the principles of Gesa’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  2. Provide informed, professional, and accurate assistance and support to all team members and membership.
  3. Contact members via outbound/inbound phone calls and other means of communication to negotiate account resolution and accurately input and document actions within the collection systems while maintaining company performance and productivity standards.
  4. May be required to support other work queues to facilitate teamwork in the department.
  5. Escalates calls to lead or senior team members and members of management as needed.
  6. Maximize the collection and/or recovery of Credit Union assets from delinquent and charged-off accounts.
  7. Maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity.
  8. After approval from management, assign repossession of collateral to approved agents.
  9. Adhere to provisions as set forth in the Gesa Collections Policy and all relevant regulations.
  10. Ensure all bankruptcy documentation and communication is referred to the Bankruptcy Specialist in a timely manner.
  11. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions, as applicable to job responsibilities.
  12. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
  13. Follow up on accounts in a timely matter according to current procedures.
  14. Analyze the financial situation of delinquent borrowers; make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  15. Testify at legal proceedings, as required.
  16. Stay up to date on trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans and other pertinent areas which may impact collections.
About You:
  1. Ability to organize, prioritize and respond simultaneously to multiple tasks and requests.
  2. Ability to promote a team environment and participate in a cohesive team environment.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information, both orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to professionally interact with members and coworkers at all times.
  5. Ability to refer to policy and procedures when applying information and making decisions.
What You Will Need:
  1. One (1) to five (5) years of similar or related experience. 
  2. High School diploma or equivalent. 
  3. Some travel is required to complete credit union training and/or fulfill duties.
  4. Display courtesy, tact, and diplomacy with current and potential members, peers, and staff.
  5. Proficient with standard office equipment Excel, MS Word, and Outlook

Full Salary Range:

Richland, WA: $20.00-$33.07

Renton, WA: $23.99-$39.98

*While our full pay range is listed, most new team members typically start between the minimum and midpoint based on their experience and qualifications.  This approach gives room to grow within the role as your career progresses with us!"
