What are creative jobs?

Creative jobs are jobs that require artistic talent or a creative mindset, and they usually refer to jobs in the advertising, marketing, graphic design, apparel manufacturing, literary, and film industries. The specific qualifications for creative jobs vary by field and position. For example, if you want to work in the art department at an ad agency, you need to have strong visual skills, a talent for graphic or fine art, and excellent drawing and drafting skills. Meanwhile, as a copywriter, you need to have strong written communication skills. Your duties and responsibilities also vary depending on the type of creative work you do.

What is a creative?

Creatives are professionals involved in generating original ideas and producing content across various fields, such as advertising, marketing, design, writing, and the arts. Their main role is to develop visually appealing, engaging, or thought-provoking materials that help communicate messages, promote brands, or entertain audiences. Creatives can include graphic designers, copywriters, art directors, illustrators, and more, often working in teams or agencies to bring concepts to life.

How does a creative professional typically collaborate with other departments during a project?

Creative professionals often work closely with teams such as marketing, product management, and development to ensure their concepts align with overall business goals. Collaboration usually involves brainstorming sessions, regular feedback meetings, and iterative revisions based on input from key stakeholders. This cross-functional teamwork helps to refine ideas, maintain brand consistency, and deliver effective campaigns or products. Being open to feedback and adaptable to changes are important qualities for success in this collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative, you need a strong portfolio showcasing artistic ability, innovative thinking, and proficiency in design or content creation, often supported by a degree in a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other digital media platforms is typically required. Standout soft skills include adaptability, collaboration, and effective communication to convey ideas and work with diverse teams or clients. These skills and qualities are essential to producing compelling work that meets project goals and adapts to evolving creative trends.

Creative Specialist

ArachnidWorks

Job description

About ArachnidWorks

ArachnidWorks is a marketing agency built for established SMBs. We blend practical strategy, purpose-built systems, and results-oriented execution to help businesses build marketing that actually works. For 25+ years, we have helped companies turn scattered marketing efforts into predictable demand systems through The Arachnid Method. We move fast, communicate clearly, and genuinely enjoy working together.

You'll love it here if you…

  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and proactively.
  • Take pride in delivering great work across multiple creative formats.
  • Stay genuinely curious and are already experimenting with new tools.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days look the same.
  • Want to work with a team that supports each other and enjoys the work.

About the Role

The Creative Specialist is a mid-level delivery role built for a multi-disciplinary creative. You have a strong foundation in graphic design and the range to move across video, social content, and digital ad creative.

This role sits inside our creative team alongside senior designers and a Creative Director. Your aim is to expand what we can produce. When the design team hits capacity, you flex in. When the social team needs assets, you deliver. When a client needs ad creative across formats, you own it. You work closely with the team to improve the creative systems to get clients high-quality creative work.

We built the same multi-disciplinary philosophy into our digital team, where one person spans paid, CRM, and performance channels. We want the same on the creative side: someone hungry to learn and excited about where the tools are heading.

Core Responsibilities

1. Design Execution

  • Produce high-quality digital design assets across client accounts: social graphics, ad creative, email visuals, landing page elements, and presentation decks.
  • Flex into capacity gaps alongside our senior designers on branding, print, and digital deliverables.
  • Resize and adapt assets across formats and platforms without losing quality or brand consistency.
  • Work independently from creative briefs and brand guidelines, managing multiple deliverables at once.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Canva required.

2. Basic Video & Motion

  • Edit short-form video content for social, paid ads, and client deliverables. This does not need to be your primary skill, but it is something we will lean on you for.
  • Produce reels, social cuts, and repurposed content from raw footage or existing assets.
  • Create basic motion graphics and animated elements to support static design work.
  • Understand how video performs across platforms and adapt accordingly.

3. Social & Ad Creative

  • Build visual content for organic social and paid social campaigns across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Produce ad creative in multiple formats (static, animated, and video) in partnership with our paid media team.
  • Think beyond the brief and bring ideas for creative approaches that could improve performance.

4. Tools & Innovation

  • Stay current on emerging creative tools, including AI-assisted design and production tools, and bring what you learn back to the team.
  • Help the broader creative and social teams work faster and smarter as the toolset evolves.

Experience & Skills

  • 3-5 years of hands-on creative experience, ideally agency-side or in a fast-paced in-house environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and Canva.
  • Comfort with video editing tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut.
  • Experience producing content for social media platforms: you know what a good reel looks like and how to make one.
  • Comfort with ad creative production: you understand that a Meta ad and a brand brochure are different things and know how to approach both.
  • Working knowledge of motion graphics tools (After Effects or similar) is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with AI design and creative tools. We are not looking for an expert, but you should be curious and already exploring.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates range: static design, video, social content, and ideally ad creative.
  • Agency experience required.

Benefits

We offer a competitive package including health, dental, and vision coverage, paid parental leave, 401(k) matching, PTO, company holidays, and ongoing support for education and professional development.
