About the Innovation Team:

The Innovation Team is housed within Jefferson County's Business Innovation and Technology Department. Our vision is to foster innovation to transform government services for the better.

We operate a series of projects and programs such as process improvement training, innovation programs and internships, technology evaluations, and project management of select service improvements.

About the Innovation Internship Program:

Jefferson County's Innovation Team hosts a cohort of interns every fall and spring semester as well as during the summer. Innovation interns get first-hand experience in civic innovation, ranging from emerging technologies to transformational initiatives. We strive to build a strong community, even within a hybrid environment, and provide opportunities for mentoring, networking, professional development, and getting to know your fellow interns. Internships are designed to last at least a semester, and successful interns are encouraged and welcome to continue their internship.

About the Position

We are searching for an Innovation intern to support the Jeffco Innovation Lab. Jeffco Innovation Lab (JIL) is the county's hub for employee innovation and offers courses and programs that empower Jeffco employees to transform government services for the better.

The intern will help to facilitate workshops and events, coordinate planning activities, and ultimately support employees all over the county in transforming county services for the better.

The position will report directly to the Innovation Program Manager. The successful candidate will have great interpersonal and facilitation skills, a knack for data analysis and technology, and a desire to facilitate change in government!

SCHEDULE:

  • This internship is for 20-25 hours per. Most of these hours will be completed during core business hours, Monday-Thursday between 8 AM - 5 PM.
  • This internship is hybrid, with remote work and in-office work asdeterminedby business need. On average, this role can expect to be in the Golden office 4-6 days per month.

COMPENSATION:

Hiring Range: $22.00 - $25.00 USD Hourly

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

BENEFITS:

Please note that this is a temporary, non-benefit position. There is no holiday pay. Employees are able to earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Specifically, the Jeffco Innovation Lab Intern should expect to:

  • Provide operational support for specific Jeffco Innovation Lab programs which currently include: Process Improvement, Change Management, and Human-Centered Design
  • Support includes promoting offerings, scheduling courses, tracking attendance, communicating with participants, etc.
  • Design materials for Jeffco Innovation Lab course offerings
  • Co-facilitate trainings and workshops for employees
  • Develop and provide tools, resources, and platforms to support employee innovation
  • Design and facilitate lunch and learn style engagement opportunities for employees
  • Partner with county staff on the continuous improvement journey
  • Enhance the Innovation Team's brand through online engagement and communications

We're looking for a curious and organized person with a passion for creative problem solving around open-ended challenges to jump in and contribute to our Innovation team initiatives.
