Job Description
Fishbeck is currently initiating a search for a talented, growth-oriented Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Department in one of our Indiana offices. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is committed to delivering high-quality work, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is ready to take the next step in their career.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and mentor staff, contribute to exciting and impactful projects, and grow alongside a dynamic and forward-thinking organization.
Primary Functions
As a Traffic Engineer at Fishbeck, you will:
  • Conduct traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
  • Perform intersection and roadway traffic modeling.
  • Complete roundabout analysis and geometric evaluation.
  • Develop INDOT plans utilizing Traffic Data.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Assist with traffic signal design and operations.
  • Collaborate and interact with our clients including INDOT, local agencies, other consulting companies, and contractors.
  • Support the development of project budgets and schedules.
  • Contribute to technical proposal development.
  • Manage tasks and mentor staff.
  • Partner with transportation professionals across Fishbeck offices and within the industry on traffic engineering initiatives.

Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking.
  • Perform duties both in the field and in an office setting.
  • Ability to access and maneuver around project sites.
  • Use of a computer and communication equipment for documentation purposes.
  • Capable of traveling to and from project locations.
  • Must have visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities.

Desired Education
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Desired Skills/Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with ITE Trip Generation Manual and traffic studies.
  • Preferred knowledge of INDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
  • Experience using:
    • Highway capacity software
    • Synchro
    • Vissim
    • Rodel
    • MicroStation
  • Strong computer proficiency and verbal communication skills (required)
