Creative Dining is hiring immediately for full-time Cook positions.

  • Location: 3201 Burton St SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546
  • Schedule: Full time schedule. Open availability is required. Hours and days may vary; more details upon interview.
  • Requirement: 1-2 years of experience required.
  • Pay Range: $17-$20 per hour, depending on experience

Job Summary

As a Cook in the Dining Services Department, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious food while ensuring safe and efficient kitchen operations. You will work as part of a collaborative team, following recipes and maintaining food standards, while adhering to safety protocols and fiscal guidelines. Your contributions will support the smooth running of kitchen operations, ensuring that all food is ready on time and meets established quality standards.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Prepare food according to recipes, maintaining freshness, quality, and appeal.
  • Time Management: Ensure food production is completed on time for service.
  • Batch Cooking: Use batch cooking techniques to prevent over or underproduction.
  • Food Safety: Follow safe food handling practices and store food according to guidelines.
  • Temperature Control: Maintain proper food temperatures (cold below 40° and hot above 135°).
  • Records Management: Maintain production records, including food usage, customer counts, and temperatures.
  • Workplace Cleanliness: Keep a clean and sanitized work area at all times.
  • Kitchen Operations: Open/close kitchen, manage equipment, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Team Support: Assist fellow team members in completing kitchen tasks and communicating needs.
  • Inventory & Stocking: Assist with ordering, inventory, and stock management.
  • Lead Role (if applicable): Provide leadership, communicate operational issues, and support management with kitchen operations.
