Job description

THE ROLE

We Are Social is looking for a Group Creative Director to join our growing team! This role is for you if you are looking for an opportunity to produce the best work of your career while helping creative teams grow through strong management and development. You are a high level visionary responsible for leading creatives for multiple teams, accounts, and projects simultaneously. You set the standards for agency quality, mentor the next generation of Creative Directors, and ensure We Are Social continues to deliver industry leading, brand defining work.

WE ARE

A creative agency powered by social connections. That means we thrive on what's trending and creating campaigns that get people buzzing. We call it "Ideas Worth Talking About," and we're proud to have played a part in some of the most culturally relevant campaigns of the decade for brands like McDonald's, Adidas, Universal Studios, and YouTube.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

  • We like to laugh, we live for celeb gossip and we're great on AUX.
  • Our passport program lets you explore and work from one of our 18 other offices worldwide, including Paris, Singapore, Madrid, Dubai, London and more!
  • You best believe we know how to celebrate our wins. And our losses (it's how we learn).
  • From carbon offsets to community kitchens, we're passionate about making a difference.

YOU ARE

  • A person who thrives in a fast-paced environment, responding quickly and proactively
  • Not interested in just following trends - you want to create them
  • A self-starter, who'll take ideas from concept to execution, navigating feedback like a pro

Traditional agency experience is not required, but it's a plus. What matters is your deep understanding of what resonates with social audiences. This role is energetic, innovative and forward-thinking. Alongside engaging with communities, you'll guide brands by staying ahead of social trends and cultural moments. In return, you'll join a global agency dedicated to generating buzzworthy ideas for some of the world's leading brands.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Creative Thinking & Problem Solving:

  • Ensure all creative is strategic, aligning complex ideas with nuanced client objectives and long term brand health
  • Champion "Big" thinking, translating abstract concepts into sophisticated, multi-channel campaigns that push creative boundaries
  • Navigate project challenges, balancing budget constraints and evolving client needs across the entire portfolio without compromising the agency's standards
  • Craft and execute complex projects with a focus on high level art and copy direction that resonates at scale
  • Maintain organizational excellence at the group level, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to maintain team focus and high output under pressure

Management & Leadership:

  • Direct and mentor Creative Directors and team leaders, fostering their professional growth and ensuring a cohesive leadership layer across the agency
  • Oversee multiple creative teams and accounts simultaneously, maintaining a high level view of all creative output to ensure consistency and excellence
  • Cultivate a high performance culture by building a collaborative, innovative environment that attracts and retains top-tier creative talent
  • Develop and deepen strategic client relationships, serving as the primary creative authority for large scale partnerships and high stakes accounts
  • Prioritize agency wide tasks, managing the capacity of multiple teams to ensure deadlines are met across varying levels of project complexity
  • Give clear and actionable feedback to team members based on a deep understanding of their skill sets and creative tools

Communication & Influence:

  • Provide strategic direction to clients, ensuring their business needs are effectively translated into actionable, high impact creative visions
  • Defend art direction and strategy to C-suite stakeholders, articulating the ROI of creative decisions with confidence and clarity
  • Synchronize cross departmental efforts to streamline operations and ensure the creative vision is preserved from pitch to delivery
  • Present to large groups of people with passion and poise and clearly communicating concepts to clients, selling in the strongest ideas

Technical Skills & AI Fluency:

  • Use AI to synthesize research and campaign data into high-level creative strategies and "Big Idea" concepts
  • Mastery of generative tools to help visualize complex concepts quickly for pitches and presentations
  • Drive the agency's POV on AI, guiding teams on the ethical usage and integration of AI into complex, high-budget workflows
  • Act as the team's AI subject matter expert, training staff on new capabilities and leading the conversation on the proactive, ethical use of AI in creative workflows

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE

  • 10+ years experience working within an agency or internal brand team with creative leadership experience
  • You have a proven track record of creating breakthrough social media content for tech and/or entertainment brands (platforms, studios, streamers, exhibitors, franchises).
  • You speak culture. You know who, where, when, and why in film, music, design, streetwear, celebrity, trends. Your friends turn to you to explain what's happening on TikTok, Instagram, and other social media.
  • You understand how to be authentically native on social platforms via short-form video, motion graphics, trending sounds, etc.
  • You are a strong communicator who treats co-workers and clients with empathy and respect
  • Ability to oversee both visual and narrative components of large-scale campaigns.
  • Experience crafting creative strategies that are grounded in market data and client KPIs
