What is an interactive creative director?

An Interactive Creative Director is a senior-level professional responsible for leading the creative vision and strategy for digital and interactive projects, such as websites, apps, and online campaigns. They oversee teams of designers, developers, and content creators to ensure that projects are engaging, user-friendly, and aligned with the client's brand objectives. Interactive Creative Directors combine creative skills with technical knowledge to deliver innovative digital experiences, often working closely with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

To thrive as an Interactive Creative Director, you need a strong background in digital design, UX/UI principles, and creative leadership, usually supported by a degree in design, visual arts, or a related field. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, prototyping tools like Figma or Sketch, and familiarity with front-end development concepts are commonly required. Exceptional communication, team management, and innovative thinking set top performers apart in this role. These skills are crucial for leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver engaging, user-centered interactive experiences that meet both business and creative objectives.

  • Own cost allocation methodology, rate-setting, and related processes to ensure Creative and Services team costs are accurately planned, tracked, and allocated to game titles and organisational initiatives.
  • Build ad hoc financial models, business cases, and scenario analyses to support decision-making.
  • Drive standardisation, automation, and process improvements across planning, reporting, and forecasting activities to strengthen financial visibility and improve team efficiency.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of finance professionals.

Qualifications:

  • People management/leadership experience preferred, with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and support finance professionals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced finance certifications are a plus.
  • 7-10 years of experience in financial planning, analysis, or related finance functions.

  • Experience in gaming, entertainment, technology, or subscription/live service business models preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
