Job description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

The Creative Studio is responsible for defining and delivering the visual and narrative identity of the brand.

We are looking for a hands-on Content Creator to concept, make, and ship a high volume of content across our channels. You are a doer at heart — a maker who’s as comfortable behind a camera or in a design file as you are writing a caption — and you’re excited to experiment across formats in the digital age.

This role sits at the intersection of design, film, and copy, with a broad creative skill set and at least one dedicated craft (for example: photography, copywriting, design, or film) where you go deep. You’ll help keep the bar high while moving at the pace of social media, with a strong understanding of the nuances between organic and paid.

This role will be hybrid, convenient to our Southern California offices.

Responsibilities
  • Content Creation: Concept, design, shoot, and/or write social-first assets for Rivian channels — including short-form video, simple motion, stills, and copy — balancing speed with craftsmanship.
  • Social-First Storytelling: Translate briefs, product features, and brand narratives into simple, scroll-stopping ideas that work natively across platforms (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn).
  • Organic & Paid Adaptation: Tailor assets and messaging for both organic and paid placements, understanding how creative needs to flex for performance while staying on-brand.
  • End-to-End Making: Take projects from rough idea to finished asset — including light storyboarding, shooting or sourcing visuals, basic editing, and writing headlines/captions — in partnership with Creative Studio peers.
  • Design & Layout: Create clean, on-brand layouts for social posts, stories, and lightweight campaign assets using Rivian’s design system, typography, and visual guidelines.
  • Video & Motion Support: Assist with planning, shooting, and editing short-form video and simple motion graphics (e.g., basic transitions, type-on, lower thirds) to bring concepts to life.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with the Creative Studio, Organic Social, Performance Marketing, and Integrated Marketing teams to ensure assets align to briefs, brand standards, and channel best practices.
  • Quality & Consistency: Maintain a high quality bar across a high volume of output — checking details like spelling, pacing, framing, and brand alignment before publishing or handoff.
  • Experimentation & Trend Awareness: Stay tuned into cultural, platform, and format trends — proposing new ideas, tests, and formats that feel fresh, relevant, and true to Rivian.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in a creative role focused on content creation (in-house, agency, or freelance). Strong portfolios with less experience will also be considered.
  • Craft Specialty: Demonstrated strength in at least one core craft area — such as photography, videography/film, design, or copywriting — with a portfolio that shows your point of view.
  • Broad Creative Skill Set: You bring a mix of creative skills and a willingness to try new formats and tools, while developing one or more core specialties (for example: photography, copywriting, design, or film).
  • Attention to Detail: Strong eye for composition, pacing, and polish, with the ability to spot issues and self-QC before sharing work.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills, openness to feedback, and comfort working closely with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mindset: Curious, resourceful, and eager to learn new tools and formats. Passionate about sustainability, electric vehicles, technology, and the outdoors.
  • Ways of Working: Must thrive in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments, while being flexible, collaborative, and reliable, with excellent organization and adherence to deadlines.
