Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Data Solutions Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing complex data workflows within a Databricks ecosystem. You will act as a technical linchpin, bridging the gap between raw data engineering, advanced analytics, and data governance.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert who can navigate a matrixed organization, perform independent research, and deliver high-impact data products using a diverse tech stack including PySpark, Starburst, and Alteryx.
Key Responsibilities
  • Data Engineering & Analytics: Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using Databricks (PySpark/R). Perform scripting, automation, and performance tuning to ensure high-speed data delivery.
  • Visualization & Insights: Build custom dashboards and high-performance reporting solutions in Tableau, ensuring seamless integration with underlying data sources.
  • Data Governance & Security: Implement and manage data catalogs and lineage within Collibra and enforce advanced security protocols (RBAC/ABAC) using Immuta.
  • Discovery & Design: Use Starburst and Alteryx to perform complex data discovery and transformation across distributed environments.
  • Agile Collaboration: Lead backlog refinement and requirements engineering within a SAFe/Agile framework, utilizing Jira to track progress and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Consultative Research: Conduct independent research to solve "wicked" problems, developing creative proposals and work products that drive business value.
Required Technical Skills (Hands-On Experience)
  • Databricks Core: Deep expertise in PySpark, Data Quality Frameworks, and custom dashboarding.
  • Programming: Proficiency in Python (automation/tuning) and/or R (sparklyr) for data analysis.
  • Data Access & Transformation: Experience with Starburst (Developer/Analyst level) and Alteryx (Developer/Support).
  • Governance & Security: Hands-on experience with Collibra and security analysis in Immuta (RBAC and Attribute-Based Access Control).
  • BI & Visualization: Tableau development with a focus on debugging and performance optimization.
Professional Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven track record in distributed team environments and virtual organizations.
  • Agile Mastery: Strong background in Agile/SAFe delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills, with the ability to facilitate training sessions and present to leadership.
  • Analytical Rigor: Expert-level application and data modeling techniques with a knack for root-cause analysis.
  • Education/Certifications: CBAP, Agile Analysis Certification, or similar industry-recognized credentials preferred.
