Job description

About the Job...
We're looking for a Creative Director with an art background who sees precision as an act of love.
You can look at the kernel of an idea and know if it's worth chasing. You also know how to transfer that understanding to someone else. How to help them see what you see.
We're here to make things that actually change the world vs. just decorating it for a minute. You have to understand the difference to do this job.
You have agency. You have ambitions that are as big or bigger than ours. Your understanding of what you are now vs. what you could be are miles apart.
You'll lead creative across all of our partners. You'll lead teams. Love teams. Get in fights. Have the best days of your career and some of the hardest ones, sometimes on the same day.
We're employee-owned. When you join, you have a real stake in what we become. You won't be an employee, you'll be an owner. You'll be surprised by how much that matters.
What the role requires:
  • 8+ years, significant time at the senior creative level
  • A highly conceptual portfolio with breadth, a point of view, and a reverence for craft
  • Experience leading & developing creative teams - not just managing them, growing them
  • Comfort executing your ideas in any and every medium
  • Four-day work week, in the office Monday through Thursday, in Portland, Maine

About VIA...
VIA means "The Way" in Latin. We've been finding the way for 33 years - for our clients, for ourselves, and most importantly for the humans on the receiving end of our work.
We started with $4,000 and a set of principles we wrote in a hotel bar in fifteen minutes. That was 1993. We still use the same principles. They are our lighthouse. They keep us off the rocks:
Be Curious.
Honor the Process.
Think Like the Audience.
Create Respect.
Be on Time.
Be on Budget.
Figure It Out.
Find the Magic.
Do Work That Makes You Proud.
Believe.
We believe in ideas with consequences. Ideas that don't just look good in a deck, or win a room for an afternoon. Ideas that change what people do next. Ideas that move markets. Ideas that alter destinies.
We're 100% employee-owned. Every person here has a real stake in what we become. That changes what you fight for. What you're willing to put your name on. What done actually means.
We're based in Portland, Maine. Four-day work week. Some of the best benefits of any company our size in America. A 200 year old library that we get to work in every day knowing it's ours. Great schools. An ocean. A food scene that has no business being this good.
