Your Work Matters

At Floor & Decor, the Creative Director is responsible for defining and leading the digital visual storytelling strategy that inspires homeowners and professional customers throughout their design and renovation journeys. This role establishes and elevates the creative vision across digital channels, including email, advertising, social media, and e-commerce, ensuring a consistent and differentiated brand presence that drives engagement, customer connection, and business results.

The Creative Director serves as a strategic, hands-on creative leader, partnering closely with the Creative, Content Strategy, and Copy teams to translate brand, customer, and business objectives into compelling visual experiences. This role champions creative excellence, strengthens brand differentiation, and ensures the delivery of high-quality work that resonates with both homeowner and Pro audiences.

The Creative Director also leads and develops a team of creative professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a builder and change agent, this role drives the evolution of creative processes, capabilities, and standards, enabling scalable growth while maintaining exceptional creative quality across all digital customer touchpoints.

You’ll Be Successful With

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, interaction design, portfolio school, or similar.
  • 8+ years in digital design and art direction (agency and/or in-house), including 4+ years leading a creative team.
  • Experience in retail, interior design, and/or home improvement strongly preferred; experience serving both consumer and professional/B2B audiences a plus.
  • A portfolio showing strong digital work and deep proficiency across ecommerce, email, social, and advertising—with evidence of creative vision, strategic thinking, and measurable business impact.
  • Track record of developing creative talent—guiding established teams through meaningful creative growth while building on strengths.
  • Command of the fundamentals: art direction, typography, photography direction, visual identity, and user experience.
  • Proficient in art directing video and motion—able to shape concepts, provide on-set direction, and partner with in-house or agency production, editors, and post-production.
  • Understanding of DAM systems, project management tools, and a strong creative ops mindset.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite; motion tools (e.g., AfterEffects) a plus.
  • Fluency with CGI and AI tools with a grounded perspective on where they add value (and where they don’t).
  • Proven experience building and evolving digital design systems that scale across channels and teams.
  • Strong instinct for problem-solving—comfortable turning initial briefs into clear direction and navigating tough creative decisions with the team.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence teams and present to senior leadership.

Your Day Consists Of

  • Leading design, art direction, and creative strategy across integrated campaigns for homeowner and Pro audiences spanning paid, owned, and shared digital channels, ensuring work is visually compelling, on-brand, and built for engagement, conversion, customer acquisition, and increased share of wallet.
  • Setting, championing, and communicating a clear creative vision for Floor & Decor’s digital channels by developing and presenting creative concepts, storytelling, messaging, and visual language to peers, senior stakeholders, and executive leaders while maintaining a high standard of creative excellence throughout the customer journey.
  • Serving as the visual guardian and champion of Floor & Decor’s digital brand presence, ensuring creative output consistently builds brand equity, maintains brand integrity and authenticity, adapts appropriately for Pro and homeowner audiences, and aligns with non-digital brand touchpoints.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing digital creative team by setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, fostering creative risk-taking and accountability, assigning work strategically, supporting professional growth, and balancing people leadership with hands-on art direction.
  • Building a deep understanding of customer behavior and the digital customer journey, partnering with UX, ecommerce, marketing, lifecycle, CRM, social, analytics, merchandising, category management, product, and other cross-functional teams to create seamless customer experiences and support business priorities.
  • Partnering with UX on the ongoing evolution of the digital design system, ensuring it remains on-brand, scalable, accessible, and effective across digital channels.
  • Shaping creative briefs and collaborating with marketing stakeholders, project management teams, agencies, and external partners from concept through execution, establishing ways of working that balance quality, efficiency, and speed while representing digital creative in cross-functional planning and executive reviews.
  • Remaining current on digital design trends, platform changes, emerging technologies, accessibility standards, and AI-powered creative solutions; championing AI fluency as a core team capability and defining how technology integrates into workflows to expand creative capacity, improve efficiency, and enable greater focus on concept development and strategy.
