Job description

Creative Content Specialist

The Creative Content Specialist is responsible for telling the story of VCU Athletics through shooting, editing, creating videos and content for VCU Athletics as well as providing photography as needed. Videos are, but not limited to, intro and hype videos, highlights, features, season previews/recaps, video board content and other marketing materials as needed to enhance the VCU Athletics brand. Photography includes, but not limited to, shooting games, practices and departmental special events. This position will primarily focus on Olympic sports while assisting with men's and women's basketball as needed. This position will also work with VCU Sports Properties in helping execute revenue generating videos and social media content. Reporting to the Associate AD for External Operations, the Creative Content Specialist works to further VCU Athletics' mission to win conference and national championships, provide a first-class student-athlete experience, serve as a source of pride for the University and community, and cultivate graduates who excel as leaders. Communications and marketing professionals will collaborate closely with VCU Enterprise Marketing and Communications to align content, storytelling and brand positioning with institutional priorities and standards.

Core Responsibilities

65% Video Content Creation/Editing

  • Responsible for the creation and editing of video content for VCU Athletics including, highlights, intro videos, special features, season previews, video board content, and other projects as assigned;
  • Shoot at games to compile b-roll for video creation of Olympic Sporting events and basketball games as needed
  • Work closely with Marketing, Communications, the Ram Athletic Fund, VCU Sports Properties and coaches to tell the story of VCU Athletics and grow the brand through video content; and
  • Proactively produce content to keep video content emerging with current trends.

25% Photography

  • Responsible for taking and editing photos for VCU Athletics events including games, practices, Ram Athletic Fund events, SASS events, and others
  • Work closely with Marketing, Communications, the Ram Athletic Fund, VCU Sports Properties and coaches to capture photos as needed

10% Video/Creative Administration

  • In consultation with the Associate AD for External Operations, performs other duties as assigned pertaining to video, photography & technology administration such as collaboration with marketing staff, video production manager, communications department and coaches.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Bachelor's degree or training and experience that equates to a Bachelor's degree;

Minimum of two (2) years experience in video streaming and live production.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.

Salary Range: $45,000
