Kids Coding Instructor 'Sensei'

Code Ninjas

Part-time

Re-posted 28 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Coach students one-on-one and in groups to diagnose skill levels, unblock stuck students, and celebrate progress.

  • Create a positive, high-energy, safe environment where kids want to build and learn.

  • Own the floor by managing opening/closing duties, maintaining dojo standards, and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Job description

Responsive recruiter
Who we are Code Ninjas is the nation's fastest-growing kids coding franchise. In our center, kids ages 5-14 learn to code the way engineers actually learn: by building, breaking, debugging, and shipping video games they love. Kids can't wait to come back. Parents see the real upside - confidence, logic, math, problem-solving - as students progress from white belt to black belt.
Our core promise is simple: Kids have fun. Parents see results (Yes, it's on the walls. We mean it.)
The mission We're looking for a Sensei who brings builder energy into the dojo every day. You're not just "watching kids." You're coaching young engineers through real creative problem-solving - helping them turn ideas into working games, stuck moments into breakthroughs, and "I can't" into "watch this."
If you love teaching, mentoring, and building sharp problem-solvers (and you don't mind a little chaos with a lot of high-fives), this is your role.
What you'll do
  • Master the curriculum and level up your own coding + game-design toolkit
  • Create a positive, high-energy, safe environment where kids want to build
  • Coach students one-on-one and in groups - diagnose skill level, unblock stuck ninjas, celebrate wins
  • Spark curiosity: turn bugs, failures, and half-built ideas into engineering lessons
  • Give parents clear, confident tour feedback so families see the value fast
  • Own the floor: opening/closing duties, clean dojo standards, smooth day-to-day ops
  • Keep the team tight with daily manager updates and weekly progress reports

You're a great fit if you
  • Have real experience with kids 5+ (mentoring, coaching, tutoring, camps, classrooms, etc.)
  • Are naturally good with people and thrive in public-facing roles
  • Collaborate well and make the team better
  • Know coding/tech - or can pick it up fast and enjoy the learning curve
  • Bring playful energy and a builder mindset to a fast-paced environment
  • Get energized by creative problem-solving, not just following a script

Why this role is actually fun
  • You're teaching real skills through games, not worksheets
  • Every day is different: new projects, new bugs, new "aha" moments
  • You get to coach the engineering mindset early - curiosity, persistence, systems thinking
  • You're part of a team that takes kids seriously as builders
  • Strong performers grow into bigger leadership opportunities in-center

Bottom line If you want a job that feels like coaching a junior engineering squad disguised as a game studio, apply. Bring the energy. Bring the patience. Bring the "let's figure it out" attitude.
Compensación: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
