JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Visual Arts Program Intern
Department: Visual Arts
FLSA Status: Temporary (400 hours)
Summary
As Visual Arts Program Intern at A Place Called Home you will be primarily responsible for supporting in the planning of APCH's 4th annual Comic Art and Literacy Expo (CALE), held in March each year. This is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual to build skills and experience around event planning and management, graphic design, community engagement, and more, all while serving the South Central Los Angeles community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in planning for CALE
  • Assist with any administrative duties involved with CALE
  • Create graphics and social media content for CALE
  • Work with the Visual Arts and Event Planning team to prepare for the event.
  • Support other Visual Arts team members in carrying out department tasks
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

To perform this important job successfully, the Visual Arts Program Intern must be able to fulfill all of the elements of the Job Description to the highest standard, and be able to work well with colleagues in a high energy, collaborative environment with open communications. Education/Training/Experience
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • LA County Resident and or attending and LA County college or university
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in an LA County college/university and have completed 1 semester or the equivalent by June of the current year
  • Beginner skills in Adobe Creative Cloud

Physical and Mental Demands
  • Able to work in a dynamic and high noise level environment typical of a youth center
  • Walking, standing required on daily basis
  • Sitting and use of hands/vision for computer work for extended periods of time
  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
