Job Overview for Crate Builders
The Lee Group is seeking dependable and hardworking Crate Builders to join the warehouse team of one of our valued clients in Newport News, VA. In this role, you will construct custom wooden crates used to safely store and transport sensitive, high-value items throughout the warehouse. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a construction background who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in quality craftsmanship, and thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
 
Job Responsibilities of Crate Builders
  • Build custom wooden crates for sensitive equipment and materials stored throughout the warehouse. 
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and secure lumber using hand and power tools. 
  • Read and follow work instructions and basic measurements to ensure crates meet required specifications. 
  • Inspect completed crates for quality and structural integrity. 
  • Safely handle and move materials throughout the work area. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. 
  • Follow all company safety procedures and warehouse guidelines. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
 
Job Qualifications of Crate Builders
  • Previous construction, carpentry, framing, crate building, or woodworking experience is required. 
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools such as drills, saws, nail guns, and impact drivers. 
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift. 
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Crate Builders
