Wieland is hiring a Production Buyer.  The Production Buyer is responsible for material procurement, and supplier management to support efficient manufacturing operations.  This ensures raw materials, components, packaging, and indirect supplies are available to meet production schedules while controlling costs, maintaining quality standards, and minimizing disruptions. This role is located in Verona, VA and will be fully on-site. 

Base Salary Range: $76,000- $86,000 per year.

 

May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be based upon various factors unique to each individual that may include but are not limited to years of experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, qualifications, etc.


Production Buyer Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate supplier scorecards including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness and pricing
  • Develop alternative suppliers to reduce risk and support continuity
  • Work closely with plant leadership to ensure uninterrupted material flow to production
  • Resolve shortages, late deliveries, quality holds, and supply chain disruptions quickly.
  • Support new product launches through material readiness and supplier onboarding
  • Coordinate engineering changes, BOM updates, and material phase-ins/phase-outs.
  • Track KPIs such as OTIF, inventory turns, supplier performance, purchase price variance, schedule attainment and forecast accuracy.
  • Inquire, select, and purchase materials required for the proper operation of the business
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate for the best price and delivery terms
  • Ensure the system is updated with current product details and due dates
  • Work with domestic, foreign, and custom suppliers on incoming material
  • Work with suppliers and carriers to improve the delivery process
  • Confirm material orders meet on-time-delivery requirements
  • Create entries for and track the progress of purchase orders
  • Review, investigate, and address invoicing discrepancies
  • Coordinate with interconnected departments
  • Other Purchasing tasks as assigned

Production Buyer Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing purchasing, materials management, or supply chain.
  • Strong understanding of MRP, BOM structures, lead times.
  • Experience negotiating with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • APICS CPIM / CSCP or CPSM certification a plus
