Job description

Powering Customer Success Through Technical Leadership!
MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Senior Project Applications Engineer to lead technical communications, engineered solution development, quotations, and project support for national account and engineered solutions business. In this highly visible role, you will serve as the primary technical liaison between CPSD and the customer-from proposal through equipment delivery-ensuring exceptional service, technical accuracy, and commercial success.
What You'll Do
Develop Customer-Focused Quotations: Review RFQ information and collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal departments to prepare accurate quotations including specification compliance, pricing, Bills of Material, cost-of-ownership documentation, drawings, scope of work, and procedures.
Lead Contract & Price Negotiations: Participate in commercial negotiations, manage product costs, and support margin objectives.
Strengthen Customer Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with national account customers; support domestic customers with international requirements; identify new business opportunities in the national account segment.
Manage Project Plans: Create, maintain, and monitor project plans outlining goals, schedules, resource allocation, risks, and mitigation strategies to ensure customer commitments are met and costs remain within budget.
Provide Technical Application Support: Deliver application engineering expertise to internal and external customers; support onsite service activities as needed.
Serve as Technical Representative: Attend technical meetings, site walkthroughs, seminars, and presentations independently to promote CPSD products.
Deliver Technical Training: Provide technical training and product education for CPSD sales channels.
Track & Communicate Project Status: Manage documentation, technical requirements, and customer communications in compliance with MEPPI's quality system.
Recommend Product Solutions: Identify proper applications for CPSD products and develop customer-specific engineered solutions.
Manage Engineering Documentation: Create, present, and review electrical, schematic, system, and mechanical drawings.
Support Technical Communications: Develop written and verbal materials to explain and promote CPSD solutions.
Mitigate Project Risks: Work with management and internal teams to identify and minimize risks associated with customer and vendor orders; evaluate and mitigate order costs.
Mentor Engineering Staff: Support and mentor other Project Application Engineers in technical support, pricing strategy, and training.
Lead Factory Witness Testing: Oversee customer witness test agendas, execution, and communications.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify cost improvements, process optimizations, and new product opportunities.
Promote CPSD Excellence: Support CPSD's mission and professional image through positive, collaborative interactions across MEPPI and with external partners.
What You Bring
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of applications engineering and/or outside technical sales experience in power quality/distribution, or equivalent education and experience

Technical Expertise:
  • Advanced knowledge of UPS systems, power quality equipment, batteries, and/or distribution switchgear
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and engineering documents

Skills & Attributes:
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and work effectively across cross-functional teams

Technology Proficiency:
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office
  • Proficiency with CAD software and ERP business systems
